Divine Hair Salon Knaresborough
- Kirsty, Fiona, Amy and Emma are not it brilliant at their job but just lovely young ladies. Not only missed my haircut but also the chatter and warmth from this salon. Look forward to them ‘re opening Monday 6th July.
- Not only has my hair missed divine but I have missed all the girls that work there especially Amy who I have been going to for at least 5+ years. She’s not only my hairdresser but more importantly my friend and confident and it’s been hard without her over these past 3 months
- These girls are amazing at what they do and never fail to cheer everyone up. They are all so welcoming and I know many people don’t just go there for their hair cut but for the conversation and pampering. I know I am not alone in missing them during lock down. Looking forward to catching up with everyone and getting my hair fixed!

I kept the best for the end…. EXCELLENT BREAKFAST, using LOCAL FARMERS to guarantee a high quality product.. definitely need business and people with this kind of mindset .. now more than ever with this pandemic… Best independents restaurant, always an excellent service and great food. Having a huge selection gluten free , vegan… must try the vegan brownie , I am not vegan , but this dessert is to die for !!!!! Dog friendly restaurant, and I almost forget the best part …. breakfast serve till 4pm, what or who can beat that ?? Can you imagine the pleasure of having a amazing tasty really feeding breakfast late on Saturday ?! The best solution after a Friday night out !!! First Step Phonics
- I would like to nominate First Step Phonics for their contribution in making learning Phonics fun for my grandchild Amelia. Because of the fun and animated way Claire puts together the class each letter comes to life and is very memorable. We come away with an activity to do at home and a magnetic letter each week and the lessons are affordable and extremely valuable. Hopefully Claire will manage to put some more online lessons on during the holidays and all being well a return to our class in September. With children missing lots of nursery time with their teachers this will be even more important than ever.
Freedom Performing Arts
- My daughter has missed doing her 3 classes per week. It’s such a good environment for the kids for their physical, social and mental well being. We are looking forward to going back as soon as we can

- Because goose is awesome. Family, team spirit, play, imagination, amazing coffee, the cake!!! And the food is incredible.

- Supporting their divers knowing now that there is no date given for returning. Providing endless training links and videos and just being awesome.
Harrogate Gymnastics
- They keep our little gymnasts happy and mentally well through physical activity, peer support, team building and role modelling for young girls. They help keep young girls focussed and active during difficult times when they are growing, when the world around them changes and when things fall apart at school or at home they are there to keep everything normal, to be the steadying path in a world full of turmoil.
Harrogate PT
- Lisa Molloy and Hayley Kind, funny, motivating and social – Lisa and Hayley for Harrogate PT have taken their most popular fitness classes online. Made it easy and professional to book all for a fraction of their normal prices. The zoom on line hiit, legs bums and tums and Pilates sessions are fantastic and made suitable for all levels. The girls have given key worker free access and refer a friend has been a feature throughout the lockdown, ensuring those that might want to try before they buy get free access, encouraging more people to get fit! They’re fantastic x

- Emily and Jane do such and amazing job. My little one still asks if we can go on a Thursday as she misses them so much. They are kind, professional and caring.
- We have rally missed our Hartbeeps sessions. Jane is so friendly and always remembers everyone’s names! It was my little ones favourite time of the week.

- Claire and Louise have gone from strength to strength as have I! They have provided excellent exercise classes, fun and stimulation while keeping us sane and fit during the confinement of lockdown. I have gone to my local gym for 26 years but have had had a great time with home classes and long long may this continue. They are just fab!

- There’s nothing like a new book! Georgia rose to the challenge of running her fabulous bookshop online when shops were shut in March. I’m so pleased that she is now able to welcome customers back into the shop. I can’t wait to visit.

- Absolutely miss going to Innovate fitness and seeing the trainers and their always happy faces, really can not wait to get back into the building again, doing on-line with Innovate fitness but face to face is so much better.

Kidzplay
- Harrogate We are members at kidzplay and usually attend at least weekly with my 3 SEND children, one of whom uses this soft play equipment as a form of physio. The other 2 have autism and seek running around in safe places. I’ve been shielding since March 20th and I am very very much missing Kidzplay as part of our routine, the friendly staff who chat and listen to me at times of quiet and who always help with rounding my eldest up at the end of our play because he hides! We really really miss Kidzplay.

- Our favourite restaurant. Great customer service and fantastic food. We ordered takeaway as soon as they were open again.
- They have only recently opened up for business offering a takeaway service and their food tastes just as good as dining at the restaurant! And with added 20% NHS discount which is wonderful thank you!

Little Beans Play Cafe
- We have really missed this lovely little place. My boys really enjoyed visiting here. We can’t wait to go back when they open back up
Little Breads Cafe
- We frequent both the kings road cafe and the hydro site. We have missed the social aspect to the cafes, as well as the amazing sandwiches/drinks/cakes. Hope that the business can weather the storm and make it out the other side! We respect that they closed immediately with government advice and to keep the staff/customers safe. We will be rushing back when they reopen.

Military 1st Fitness
- During Lockdown Paul Garden, one of the personal training assistants has been putting on free live sessions 6 days a week. His work partner has also been doing the same. Therefore giving people more variety. We have been able to access these classes through their Facebook page. The sessions are stored on their page and can be accessed at a later date if the time has not been convenient. Very motivating and rewarding classes.

- There’s nowhere like it! Lets me relive my youth and educate my son about arcades back in my youth!
- Love having somewhere unique, to take my family when we get to spend some time together and the welcoming service received by staff at new wave arcade is remarkable.

Summerbell Dance Academy
- Catering for children, mums and grans, Jennie’s classes have been sorely missed! Her infectious enthusiasm and encouragement, whatever the ability of the participants lights up our week and provides exercise for us all. The show is something the children benefit greatly from and luckily still have that to look forward to when we can meet again! We miss you Miss Jennie!
- Miss Jennie’s classes are loved by children and adults alike, it’s not only the classes that my daughter loves but the friendly family environment where everyone is welcome.
- My daughter has danced with Miss Jennie for 6 years now. It has boosted her confidence so much and she loves being part of this dance family. She is 14 years old now and is missing going so much. Dance is a massive part of her life thanks to Miss Jennie
- Despite having to close, they have kept in contact with the pupils, setting monthly challenges, the girls love their dance school and can’t wait for it to re-open!
- Classes at Summerbell Dance Academy have been the highlight of my kids’ week for years. Everything else revolves around them. Their annual show was due to take place in June, they were due to dance at the Grand Prix at Silverstone in July. We miss Summerbell Dance Academy!
Swim 2 u
- My daughter is really missing her swimming lessons, especially as she was really making progress. All the swimming teachers are lovely and really encouraging.
Swim Tots
- Gutted there’s no re-opening date yet on the horizon for starting classes again. Great swimming lessons with lovely teachers. My daughter adores going.
The Castle Inn
- The perfect family friendly pub with the best food and best staff. We didn’t realise how much we loved it until it was gone.
The Den
- A great bar with live music and loads of other stuff going on – we’ve missed this place and it’s friendly staff. Looking forward to getting back there soon!
The Geek Bar
- I was really looking forward to the Geek Bar fully opening however due to bars being closed by the government the day before they were due to open they were unable to.
The Little Gym
- We have missed going to our classes at the Little Gym! I can’t wait to be able to return. The instructors are super friendly and the facilities are brilliant.
The Living Room
- Always a friendly welcome and a lovely cake. We’ve missed our visits and our chats and especially the hot chocolate.
- I’ve missed being able to pop in and see Sarah, and have a coffee while my little boy is entertained by the toys and staff!! Xx
- They are at the forefront of the Starbeck community. The cafe has a lovely feel and everyone always goes above and beyond to help and welcome all ages nobody gets left behind.
The Old Ticket Office, Knaresborough
- Can’t wait to get back to coffee and the best scones in the Dales!!! Even the regular scone and cake deliveries are not the same without the smiling and welcoming service in the cafe!
The School and Dance Shop
- Because Julie has kept the shop open remotely for anyone who need it, she has gone over and above to provide Covid safe fittings for year 7s always with a massive smile on her face.
The Wellington Inn at Darley
- Super place that had to close due to its remoteness. Amazing staff with Philippe, Christine and the team. Miss our Sunday roasts, and whilst it will be a long time before we can go again they will need support.
The Wine Shop Knaresborough
- They have worked 7 days a week, delivering orders from the beginning of lockdown, always the same day and always with a smile!
Thug Sandwich
- I only discovered the deliciousness that is Thug Sandwich just before Coronavirus
- Yummy!
- My favourite day of lockdown was when Thug re-opened! Since then it’s been Thug Monday in our house every week!
Tilly Peppers Cafe
- Such a warm, welcoming cafe with delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. It’s been so sad walking past and seeing you closed. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the cafes open again on Cold Bath Road.

- Oooo there were so many days at the start in the lovely weather where we found ourselves discussing which flavour we would pick if only we could! Good to see them back up and running!
- It’s great to have the shop back open for delicious ice-cream- it’s the one place that I don’t mind queuing for! We missed you Alex!

Water Babies
- Our 2 year old Lachlan loves his weekly session with Water babies, we can wait to be back when things return to normal. He’s had to make do with splashing around in the paddling pool.
- My little loves swimming with his teacher but due to coivd he’s missed out on his friends and also learning safety skills in the water
Western Primary School
- Although the school has been incredible my children and i have missed not going and not seeing the school and teachers in person. An amazing setting.
Wilson & Bailey Hairdressers
- Because not only does mark and his team provide excellent hair services but its a lovely friendly place to go and helps all that enter feel good about themselves

- The ladies here make it so much more than somewhere for the children to play. I miss their happy smiley faces every week and their attentiveness to my children
- My little boy loves winkies, the staff are always amazing! We can’t wait for them to reopen!
World of Their Own
- A great unique play we love to go to – me as much as my daughter. Local parents who owned it really put in so much effort to make sure you had a great time. They are re-opening soon and I know they’ll go above and beyond to make the experience safe and one to remember!
- Great role play world with brilliant staff & lovely facitilites
- I have two boys and they have missed play dates so much but none as much as the ‘cowboy place’ it’s our first port of call for when ‘people are better’ and I love it being somewhere I can get as involved as them!
- Really felt for Lee and Crista during the lockdown – they’d just moved to amazing new premises before lockdown occurred and had barely had chance to showcase it properly. We managed to go before March and it was fabulous. We’ve missed their smiley faces and brilliant interaction with the kids. Glad to see they will soon be able to open again and hope the lockdown hasn’t affected them too much.
