Winners “We Missed You” Harrogate Mumbler Love Local Awards 2020
We love to visit Al Bivios on Hornbeam Park. It’s not just about the great food but it’s a fabulous place for families to meet up, kick back, relax and have fun. It’s not stiff, stuffy or old fashioned. The waiting staff are all so helpful and friendly and we always know both the kids and adults will all love the delicious choices on offer It’s the first place we’ll book when it reopens.
Alan’s business The Harrogate Bartender left a hole in our social events where he provided spectacular cocktails served by professional staff.
Because Harrogate isn’t Harrogate without Bettys
Stef goes above and beyond to make everyone who meets her feel like a friend and to help in whatever way she can. We love her shop and events.

Both my kids love it there and the staff are great.

Not only has my hair missed divine but I have missed all the girls that work there especially Amy who I have been going to for at least 5+ years. She’s not only my hairdresser but more importantly my friend and confident and it’s been hard without her over these past 3 months
These girls are amazing at what they do and never fail to cheer everyone up. They are all so welcoming and I know many people don’t just go there for their hair cut but for the conversation and pampering. I know I am not alone in missing them during lock down. Looking forward to catching up with everyone and getting my hair fixed!
DragonFly Card and Gifts
The best shop there is for cards and gifts, the service is second to none. So pleased I could cons in for Father’s Day cards, pleased you’re back.
Because I am sad without it!

FiiT Like a Girl
I love our teenage classes and I miss them
As soon as vicki was able to safely put on outside, socially distanced, safe work out sessions for adults – I was there! Really well put together and great to be safely working out with real people!
First Step Phonics
I would like to nominate First Step Phonics for their contribution in making learning Phonics fun for my grandchild Amelia. Because of the fun and animated way Claire puts together the class each letter comes to life and is very memorable. We come away with an activity to do at home and a magnetic letter each week and the lessons are affordable and extremely valuable. Hopefully Claire will manage to put some more online lessons on during the holidays and all being well a return to our class in September. With children missing lots of nursery time with their teachers this will be even more important than ever.
Freedom Performing Arts
My daughter has missed doing her 3 classes per week. It’s such a good environment for the kids for their physical, social and mental well being. We are looking forward to going back as soon as we can

Harrogate District Diving Club
Supporting their divers knowing now that there is no date given for returning. Providing endless training links and videos and just being awesome.
They keep our little gymnasts happy and mentally well through physical activity, peer support, team building and role modelling for young girls. They help keep young girls focussed and active during difficult times when they are growing, when the world around them changes and when things fall apart at school or at home they are there to keep everything normal, to be the steadying path in a world full of turmoil.
Lisa Molloy and Hayley Kind, funny, motivating and social – Lisa and Hayley for Harrogate PT have taken their most popular fitness classes online. Made it easy and professional to book all for a fraction of their normal prices. The zoom on line hiit, legs bums and tums and Pilates sessions are fantastic and made suitable for all levels. The girls have given key worker free access and refer a friend has been a feature throughout the lockdown, ensuring those that might want to try before they buy get free access, encouraging more people to get fit! They’re fantastic x

Louise & Claire These classes have kept me going during lockdown the girls have worked so hard lot make every class different & it’s a pleasure to be part of this fabulous group
Claire and Louise have gone from strength to strength as have I! They have provided excellent exercise classes, fun and stimulation while keeping us sane and fit during the confinement of lockdown. I have gone to my local gym for 26 years but have had had a great time with home classes and long long may this continue. They are just fab!
They have worked really hard to keep pilates and fitness going right though these difficult times.
Such hardworking girls who have changed their business around due to coronavirus and kept everyone going during lock down.
I love their brunches and coffees! What a fab relaxing space and excellent team they have.
Imagined Things Bookshop
It’s a favourite of mine and my 3yr old son. We love going to choose new books and there is always a lovely atmosphere in the shop. Also lots of great recommendations from the staff. We Missed You x
There’s nothing like a new book! Georgia rose to the challenge of running her fabulous bookshop online when shops were shut in March. I’m so pleased that she is now able to welcome customers back into the shop. I can’t wait to visit.
Absolutely miss going to Innovate fitness and seeing the trainers and their always happy faces, really can not wait to get back into the building again, doing on-line with Innovate fitness but face to face is so much better.
Great local business delivering high standard professional work
Harrogate We are members at kidzplay and usually attend at least weekly with my 3 SEND children, one of whom uses this soft play equipment as a form of physio. The other 2 have autism and seek running around in safe places. I’ve been shielding since March 20th and I am very very much missing Kidzplay as part of our routine, the friendly staff who chat and listen to me at times of quiet and who always help with rounding my eldest up at the end of our play because he hides! We really really miss Kidzplay.
Fabulous place with fabulous people!
Dianne I have loved walking past (and going into) dianne a gorgeous shop…. so glad to see her and hear her infectious laugh!!!
Our favourite restaurant. Great customer service and fantastic food. We ordered takeaway as soon as they were open again.
They have only recently opened up for business offering a takeaway service and their food tastes just as good as dining at the restaurant! And with added 20% NHS discount which is wonderful thank you!

Little Beans Play Cafe
We have really missed this lovely little place. My boys really enjoyed visiting here. We can’t wait to go back when they open back up
Little Breads Cafe
We frequent both the kings road cafe and the hydro site. We have missed the social aspect to the cafes, as well as the amazing sandwiches/drinks/cakes. Hope that the business can weather the storm and make it out the other side! We respect that they closed immediately with government advice and to keep the staff/customers safe. We will be rushing back when they reopen.
Little Harrogate Studio
Vicky Little has continued to give 100% of herself to this, to her it’s not just a business, it’s her life, she’s passionate about the girls she works with, especially through this uncertain time.
Just a lovely little shop and independent
We love the new cafe as a lovely place to meet with friends and family, for brunch or afternoon tea.
Military 1st Fitness
During Lockdown Paul Garden, one of the personal training assistants has been putting on free live sessions 6 days a week. His work partner has also been doing the same. Therefore giving people more variety. We have been able to access these classes through their Facebook page. The sessions are stored on their page and can be accessed at a later date if the time has not been convenient. Very motivating and rewarding classes.

You went away and we were bereft, but you came back and we had to go every week for milkshakes because they are simply the best. We also loved your lockdown videos that kept us smiling.

Catering for children, mums and grans, Jennie’s classes have been sorely missed! Her infectious enthusiasm and encouragement, whatever the ability of the participants lights up our week and provides exercise for us all. The show is something the children benefit greatly from and luckily still have that to look forward to when we can meet again! We miss you Miss Jennie!
Miss Jennie’s classes are loved by children and adults alike, it’s not only the classes that my daughter loves but the friendly family environment where everyone is welcome.
My daughter has danced with Miss Jennie for 6 years now. It has boosted her confidence so much and she loves being part of this dance family. She is 14 years old now and is missing going so much. Dance is a massive part of her life thanks to Miss Jennie

Great role play world with brilliant staff & lovely facitilites
I have two boys and they have missed play dates so much but none as much as the ‘cowboy place’ it’s our first port of call for when ‘people are better’ and I love it being somewhere I can get as involved as them!
Really felt for Lee and Crista during the lockdown – they’d just moved to amazing new premises before lockdown occurred and had barely had chance to showcase it properly. We managed to go before March and it was fabulous. We’ve missed their smiley faces and brilliant interaction with the kids. Glad to see they will soon be able to open again and hope the lockdown hasn’t affected them too much.
