The thrill of learning outside was brought to life in a special art session for youngsters at Acorns Early Years, part of Ashville College
Acorns Early Years pupils discovered the joy of creating and imagining sculptures in the unique outdoor space at the school.
They looked at the work of Harrogate-born artist Andy Goldsworthy and imagined their own woodland creations as part of their weekly Forest School.
The Acorns also took their teddies and toys along to the school’s on-site Medical Centre to meet the staff. Some of the teddies had to be bandaged and soothed by the staff as they explained to the children the role of the medical centre looking after bumps and bruises!
Charlotte Cryer, Head of Acorns Early Years, said the learning experiences all took place within the 70-acre campus.
“We have such amazing facilities and grounds and we love to take our learning into the outdoors wherever possible – that’s the joy of Forest School. It’s great to be able to use our space to expand their understanding of the world around them.
“We want to ignite a passion for learning from the beginning and we know that our children love being outdoors, and through our planning and fantastic resources, we can spark that excitement and encourage young minds to explore, create and learn.”
