Behind a very discreet (you could even say slightly shabby) shop front on Kings Rd, Harrogate, is what can only be described as a clothes shoppers paradise!
Just B is the free personalised bereavement counselling branch of St Michaels hospice and yes, the Just B shop is a charity shop, but there all similarity to the traditional charity shop ends.
Walk through the door and you will be blown away by the huge stock of pre-loved occasion wear shown to brilliant effect in an attractive and size- organised shop. (One of the biggest bugbears or those of us with less than waif-like stature is finding that the ‘perfect’ dress is two sizes too small!)
The rails are packed with high-end and designer evening / prom dresses, wedding outfits, smart workwear, trousers, skirts, tops and a huge range of accessories.
And the best bit ? …… The prices are amazing! The evening dresses range from only £25, tops from £10 and, on my visit I spotted a Karen Millen purple sateen cocktail dress in perfect condition for only £35 – sadly in a size 10 so not for me, but I did leave with a fabulous palazzo trouser suit for a summer ball at an unbelievable £25 .
No shlepping round town to complete your look either – there is also an impressive range of shoes, handbags, scarves hats and jewellery and no shortage of ‘ bling’ for those of you who want to sparkle.
Store manager Lynn is on hand with a friendly, warm welcome and is more than happy to help with putting your look together , in my case cheerfully fetching and carrying from the changing room (my usual experience being that there is never a sales assistant within shouting distance of the changing rooms )
To complete the whole experience the added bonus is that you can leave without the usual guilt trip – not only have you bagged a bargain, you’ve also supported one of Harrogate most worthy charities.
All in all it’s a win-win Make it your next stop – it’s worth it. The Just B shop is on Kings Rd opposite the Sainsbury’s Local/ St Michaels Hospice shop
