It’s my first Christmas in Harrogate and I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to shopping in local independent stores for Christmas presents. We are spoilt with the amount of independent stores we have so we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourites and a few ideas for some lovely Christmas gifts.
That’s right – we’re starting with a hardware store! Illingworths is a Mumbler HQ favourite. You can get plenty of Christmas decorations and really reasonable Christmas Trees from here. But the main reason we’re listing this place is because they sell all the ingredients you need to make your own soap! We love a homemade gift – so what better than to make your own presents and support a local business! I’ll definitely be trying soap making with my Mini-Mumbler when she’s a bit older!
I love this place – it’s a Scandi inspired store for women, men and the home! They have some fab Kusan knitwear hats at the moment that I think will make great Christmas presents. Fab colours, super warm AND behind every hat are people receiving fair wages, working in safe environments and getting free food. Bias also make their own dog shampoo – so if you’ve got any four-legged friends to buy for this year get them a bottle!
Isles of Wonder
Another favourite shop of mine, found in the beautiful Montpellier Mews. This place is crammed full of lovely unique gifts for him or her. It’s a British lifestyle and gift store that supports, showcases and nurtures the very best of great British craftsmanship, design, artistic flair and the nation’s entrepreneurial spirit. We love the Little Button Company range – especially the Yorkshire born & bread cushions. Last time I was in there they had some gorgeous little Maps of Harrogate prints which is now on the top of my Christmas list!
A great little shop for little people! Little Alligators sells unique and interesting children’s clothing gifts. My mother-in-law has been buying my daughter little pieces from here since she was a baby. A great place to get stocking filler gifts from.
A shop that sells contemporary womenswear and accessories, alongside pre-owned pieces. We especially love their very own limited edition sweatshirts and bags, inspired by our lovely town of Harrogate!
Milk and Honey
Another great place to get presents for the little ones, Milk and Honey is an independent children’s retailer selling clothing, toys and gifts. They stock a huge range of clothes for everyone from new-born to 16 years. They stock some great ranges, including Scoth & Soda and Kite.
This shop is crammed full of great Christmas gifts, stocking a huge range of personalised signs, cushions and mugs. We’ve already got Granny a few little Harrogate inspired gifts from here!
This little record store is brilliant! It’s located in The Ginnel next to Major Tom’s Social. My husband spends most of his spare time in this place – so I reckon we’ll be getting him much wanted vinyl from here this year.
Nothing is more Harrogate than Weetons! I’m doing a Harrogate inspired hamper for my parents this week and plan to get some lovely locally produced food and drink items from here!
Who doesn’t like booze for Christmas? Slingsby Gin is made from the natural spring water from right here in Harrogate! Their rhubarb gin went down a treat at our recent Mumbler Awards! If you’re looking for an experience this year – which are apparently the big trend for gifts this year – then check out their Master Distiller experience package.
Another favourite with us all at Mumbler HQ is the beautiful Heal Medical and Wellness spa. Combining the luxurious feel of a beauty spa with high, clinical standards, Heal is designed to heal your body, enhance your well-being and enrich your life. They have loads of fab treatments that would make ideal Christmas gifts. We love the medical pedicure!
