Are you looking for a down-to-earth and nurturing school for your child? A warm and friendly school where your child’s happiness, academic development and wellbeing is at its very heart?
If so, have you considered Belmont Grosvenor, a small, independent prep school set in magical grounds just a few miles from the centre of Harrogate?
We welcome boys and girls from three months to 11 years at our family school in the village of Birstwith.
Children thrive at BGS because they are both nurtured AND challenged, surrounded by understanding, stimulation and a shared ambition for educational progress.
OPEN MORNING
Our first open morning of 2022 is taking place on Tuesday 25th January and we’d love for YOU to join us.
It’s a very informal morning – please get in touch to book a time to visit between 9.30 and 11.30am by emailing us at admin@belmontgrosvenor.co.uk or just turn up on the day, you’ll be guaranteed a warm welcome. And remember if you can’t make the 25th, EVERY day at BGS is an open day so just get in touch to arrange a suitable time.
Our school is located in Swarcliffe Hall – just up the hill from St James’s Church in Birstwith – a stunning Gothic mansion with connections to the Bronte family.
Follow the drive all the way to the end and park your car outside our bright red front door Here you’ll meet members of staff who will take you on an individual tour of BGS, tailored to your particular area of interest in our school.
It might be that your maternity leave is drawing to an end and you are looking for a nursery place for your first-born; you could be thinking about Reception intake for September 2022; or you may be looking to move your child from his/her current school – whatever point in your child’s educational journey, we can help you at BGS.
Our personal tours allow you to meet our teachers and pupils, observe lessons, view our facilities as well as ask as many questions as you like.
We don’t prepare any one-off special demonstrations or plan anything out of the ordinary for our open morning – we know that what teachers do and how our pupils learn all day, every day is the best showcase for our family school. BGS is a school where happy children make happy progress.
More about BGS
We’re lucky at BGS to be set in 20-acres of magical grounds with connections to the Bronte family. So although our school and nursery might be a few miles out of the centre of town, the benefits of its location for our pupils, and their parents are immense. We’ve got our own woodland, where our children from the youngest in nursery to our oldest in Year 6, enjoy weekly Forest School lessons, extensive sports facilities, as well as an outdoor classroom and amphitheatre. Children come home muddy, fulfilled and buzzing with ideas. The opportunity to spend time in nature boots their educational attainment as well as their long term well-being.
Our dedicated team of staff at BGS work with families to understand all our pupils as individuals. We draw out and stretch their unique talents. Strong educational foundations are combined with a forward-thinking focus on the skills they will need to success in a fast-changing world. Our school has a real family feel, everybody’s contribution to school life is valued and children and adults forge firm friendships. Don’t just take our word for it – in our most recent pupil survey pupils put ‘kindness’, ‘friendship’ and ‘great lessons’ at the very top of their favourite things about BGS.
Hand in hand with the traditional prep school offering, BGS children learn computer programming, engineering, philosophy, modern foreign languages, environmental awareness and the critical thinking skills that are the foundations of innovation and entrepreneurialism. Project-based learning instils an understanding of our diverse world and a sense of responsibility for our environment.
We have big dreams and the dedication and determination to achieve them. If your child has a talent, we will spot it, develop it and celebrate it. No matter what the starting point, every child will be stretched to meet their all-round academic, sporting, creative and emotional potential.
We cherish childhood and make every day fun. Our goal is to inspire a lasting love of learning and work with children to make them feel happy at school and in their friendships.
We’ve got great facilities here at BGS – with our own swimming pool, science lab, ICT suite, language lab, library, DT room, fully-equipped gym and more.
