With Valentines Day just around the corner we thought we give you some inspiration for local date nights! So get your glad rags on, get your babysitter book and remember ladies – its a leap year this year so your chance to pop the question!!!
The Spirit of Harrogate do two experiences – The Spirit of Gin and Master Distillers. Hubby and I have done The Spirit of Gin experience and it was brilliant! A really good laugh – but if you can ship your kids off for the night! Our heads the next day HURT!
My Bloody Valentine – The Alternative Valentines day event
Another great event from The Harrogate Horror Film Festival & The Events Guys! Taking place on Valentine’s day (14th Feb) at Cold Bath Road Clubhouse. Tickets are £40 per person and includes a 3 Course meal, varied live entertainment from Burlesque performers, illusionist and the showing of the Hitchcock classic – ‘Psycho’ – See Horrors darkest love Norman and Norma Bates on the big screen! Set to be a great night, in a fab location.
It might not seem your obvious date night location – but did you know Stump Cross also do Bistro Nights throughout the year. The next one is being held on 12th February to coincide with Valentine’s day. Their chef puts on a special menu, including dishes such as pan fried wood pigeon, crisp belly pork, with delicious desserts such as mango cheesecake. There is a free glass of Prosecco for guests from 6pm, with tables served from 6.30pm. Places are limited, so please make sure you book in advance. Group bookings are welcome.
We know its not always possible to get babysitters in, so this is a great event from Mama Doreens. They’re holding a Princess Happily Ever After Valentines Theme Brunch on Sunday 16th Feb at 9.30am. Spaces are limited so call to book. Adults £14.95 and Children £11.95.
A big favourite with us all at Harrogate Mumbler – hopefully we’re still (nearly) top of the leader board! Probably more ideal for a double date – honestly this is so much fun. If you want to see how we got on, then read our blog review here.
I love Everyman, it feels like a real treat going here! Not only do they have awesome movies but did you know they also do National Theatre Live, Royal Opera House Live and Met Opera House Live, where they screen live productions! For Valentine’s day they’re showing the ultimate romantic classic Ghost and on 13th February they’ve got a special “GALentine’s” special showing of Thelma and Louise!
There is plenty going on Harrogate Theatres this month, including Fame, In the air Tonight and Soul Legends. Something for everyone, at some of Harrogate’s most beautiful venues!
Spa time
I LOVE Spas! It’s something me and my girlfriends do as much as we can, I’d never thought it would be my husband’s cup of tea. But turns out men love a bit of pampering time too! And living in a Spa town you’ve got plenty to choose from. We recently reviewed the newly renovated Spa at The Majestic and it was fab, check out our review! Added bonus of it being right on your door step too! There is also the brilliant Turkish Baths – another great place to relax, right in the centre of town! Check out our blog from their re-opening!
We love this tour! Maybe if you’ve got a newborn and just want to spend some time together – this is a great little tour lasting 1.5 hours and all the route is pram friendly! A great, informative and fun walk around Harrogate. The tour finishes off outside Bettys, so it would be rude not to finish off your date with a cheeky Fat Rascal or two! Check out our review here!
Eatin’ and Drinkin’
We haven’t even touched on where you can go to eat and drink in Harrogate – mainly because they’re are so many to choose from! But if I had to pick a few of my favourite date night spots it would be Major Toms, Threes a Crowd, Hoxton North, District Bar, Stuzzi, Cold Bath Brewery and the fabulous Disappearing Chin (if you want to hear a romantic story ask them how they came up with their name!).
Whatever you get up to, we wish you all a Happy Valentines Day from everyone at Harrogate Mumbler. And if anyone does pop the question on 29th Feb please get in touch – we’d love to hear about it!
