It seems like a long time ago but we wanted to wish all the Mumbler readers a healthy and happy 2025.
It’s hard to believe we are already well into January after an eventful start of the year for everyone in Harrogate.
Th wintry conditions that marked the start of the year were both expected but also lasted unexpectedly long.
The Estates team at Ashville College worked around the clock to ensure the school opened on time for busy working parents and pupils eager to get back to the routine and friendships of school life.
It was very much a case of business as usual to mark the start of the new term despite the weather and pupils and staff quickly adapted to the conditions and new ways of working across the 70-acre site.
Ashville College is a forward-thinking school in many ways and with the heavy snowfall that was predicted by forecasters, it was the only school of its type in Harrogate to open despite the snow, with 99 per cent of staff present.
It’s a busy term ahead with mock examinations and the Discover the New Ashville Open Doors event on 29 January.
The school has extensive facilities, including the Sports Centre and swimming pool, which means there are plenty of options for the children who might have indoor break times.
Bursar Richard Rooze said that while travelling into school during the snow had been a difficult option for some families, it was important to get the new term underway.
“The Estates team did an amazing job of keeping roads and paths clear despite the atrocious conditions.”
“Staff across the school really pulled together to ensure the pupils could start the new term,” he said.
“Most importantly our message to all our pupils and staff was to stay safe, and it was very pleasing that people heeded advice and took sensible precautions.”
Ashville College offers a holistic education with high academic expectations in a supportive environment for pupils aged between 2 and 18. To book a place at the Open Doors event, go to www.ashville.co.uk
