The Harrogate Mumbler Awards 2020 are unfortunately not going ahead, given the current circumstances & restrictions due to Coronavirus.
Instead we are hosting the “Harrogate Mumbler Love Local” Awards, which will recognise & celebrate all of the amazing businesses & individuals that we know, love & miss this year.
We have been overwhelmed by our local community over what has been such a difficult time. From the businesses that have had to close, to those that have been able to adapt, to the local teacher going above and beyond – we want to support you all. That’s why this year it’s not about winning, it’s about spreading a bit of love, support & goodwill to all local family-related businesses & individuals. We want you to nominate your favourites in each category- there are no limits and no restrictions. You can nominate as many times as you want. All we ask is that you focus on businesses & individuals that are in the Harrogate & Knaresborough areas. We want you to send messages of positivity & support. Tell them why they are fabulous & tell them why you miss them!
We have 9 different categories. You can nominate for as many categories as you want. If you want to nominate a business or individual in more than one category you can, and if you want to vote for more than one business or individual in the same category go ahead- there are no limits to showing your love! Simply fill in the Nomination form, keep sections blank if you don’t have anyone to nominate and if you do want to nominate more than once in the same category just simply fill in another nomination form – use all your same contact details.
All we ask is you give as much detail as to why your nominating who you are. For each category, we will write a special “winners” blog & in it, we will publish all the lovely comments that you have made (the comments will be anonymous so feel free to gush!) There will be no winners or losers,- all nominees will be included as long as they receive 5 or more nominations.
The businesses & individuals who make it into the blog will also receive a “Mumbler Loves Local” Award certificate. Our hope is that the messages of positivity will give them a real boost during these awful times and we hope that the free positive publicity will provide a genuine business boost as well.
The nine categories are:
We Missed You – This is aimed at businesses that had had to completely shut whilst we’ve been on lockdown. They may have re-opened on the 15th June but we really missed them while they were closed. There are so many different aspects here; your local coffee shop, the weekly play group you use to to to every week without fail, you’re favourite shop or hairdressers.
This category is open to all categories businesses or organisations based within the Harrogate & Knaresborough area.
We Miss Your Face – This is aimed at recognising an individual that hasn’t been able to work whilst we’ve been on lockdown (a business owner, a member of staff, a helper or volunteer). They may now have returned to work since shops & businesses have begun to re-open however they were missed while on lockdown. We know of so many individuals who have missed doing what they love, either as a job or as a volunteer. It’s now time to show them that we’ve missed them too!
This category is open to all individuals who work or volunteer within businesses or organisations based within the Harrogate & Knaresborough area.
We’d Have Been Lost Without You – This is for businesses or organisations that have stayed open in some form during lockdown, or even adapted their old businesses. I’ve already got a list as long as my arm for nominations for this one! It’s something thats really brought a smile to my face over the last months – seeing businesses adapt and come back stronger than ever!
This category is open to all different categories of businesses or organisations based within the Harrogate & Knaresborough area.
Star School – This is to recognise schools setting that have gone above and beyond whilst on lockdown. We’ve seen it time and time again on our Chat group the lengths our local schools have gone to throughout lockdown to make sure our children remain happy, safe and educated.
This category is open to all schools based within the Harrogate & Knaresborough area.
Star Teacher or Childcarer – This is for teachers, teaching assistants and childcarers that have gone above and beyond whilst on lockdown. Again we’ve heard such great stories of local teachers going above and beyond for our children – nows the time to blow their horn! We want them to know how brilliant they are. If there’s one thing home-schooling has taught is how hard anyone in the childcare profession works.
This category is open to all teachers, T’A’s & childcare professionals within the Harrogate & Knaresborough area.
Welcome Back – This is specifically to recognise not only the schools but ALL childcare settings that have re-opened or have remained open and have been looking after our key worker’s kids so brilliantly! This includes schools, nurseries, childminders, nannies or any other childcare setting you can think of!
This category is open to all setting based within the Harrogate & Knaresborough area.
Virtual Class or On-line Activity or Event – This is specifically for classes and groups that have gone online. It can be an adult class or children’s class or an event – either a regular or one off. I would have been lost without these – both for me and my little one! In a world where we haven’t been able to go anywhere for so long, these have been a welcome escape!
This award is open to all categories of business or organisations based within the Harrogate & Knaresborough area that appeal to either kids, parents or families.
Lockdown Local Hero – My personal favourite, you can nominate a person, a business or a group of people. Basically anyone that has done something amazing during lockdown! Perhaps you’re neighbour has been your lockdown hero – getting your shopping for the last few month, keeping you company in your garden, or maybe you know someone who has raised money for charity. Lockdown has bought out the best in our community and we really want to shout about our Lockdown Local Hero’s!
This award is open to everyone based within the Harrogate & Knaresborough area.
Rainbow – We didn’t want to miss anything or anyone out. So if you think of any individual or business that doesn’t quite fit into our other categories then we’ve come up with the Rainbow category! This category is open to any business, group or individual based in the Harrogate or Knaresborough area who doesn’t fit into any of the other categories but who deserves to be recognised. Just tell us who they are and why they deserve a thank you!
A nominee must receive at least 5 nominations to be included within our winners blog. So if you think a business or individual deserves to be recognised, then spread the word and get as many people to vote as you can! You can nominate all of your favourites here. Nominations close at midnight on 30th June 2020.
Love Sally & all at team Mumbler ????
