Healthy Start Scheme Vitamins
Healthy Start Vitamins come in two types:
• Women’s tablets – available from week 10 of pregnancy, up to your baby’s first birthday
• Baby/Child drops – available from birth up until the age of 4. Note babies having 500ml or more of infant formula per day do not need extra vitamins as vitamins are already in the formula.
Women’s Vitamins
You may be thinking why do I need to take vitamins? Even if you have a diet rich in fruit and vegetables you won’t get the full amounts of vitamins needed for a healthy pregnancy through diet alone. During pregnancy it is advised to take vitamins C and D and folic acid every day.
