Busy life? Busy brain?
Mindfulness is a wonderful, safe, mental training technique that can help calm your body and let go of distractions in the brain.

Mindfulness is simply the practice of training our brains to focus on the present moment. Meditation, often done as a more formal seated or lying down exercise, and by focusing on the breath, is just one way of practising being mindful.
MindStand is founded by Rebecca, a chartered psychologist with almost thirty years of experience, and an Accredited Practitioner/Mindfulness Meditation teacher. Bringing a psychological/scientific background to the teaching practice, Rebecca runs Mindfulness Meditation workshops in Harrogate and the surrounding areas.
There is sound, scientific research to show that mindfulness meditation can improve your physical and mental health by helping you to-
- feel calmer and in more control of your emotions
- improve clarity and focus
- boost attention and concentration
- aid sleep quality
- reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety,
- manage stress
- improve relationships
- reduce food cravings
- manage pain
- feel happier
There is also published neuroscientific research to suggest that long term meditation practice can positively change the structure of the brain, allowing you to be more focussed, attentive and less reactive to strong emotions and stress.
Anyone can benefit from mindfulness and the techniques are simple to learn and can fit easily into a daily routine- even for those with very little spare time on their hands!
In the Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop series you will learn about what mindfulness meditation is and how it can benefit your life, explore and practise different relaxing meditation and mindfulness techniques, and also learn a little about the neuroscientific findings and the helpful impact on the brain of a regular meditation practice.
The workshops will cover three themes:
- Health and wellbeing- introduction with a focus on wellbeing and mental health
- Sleep- learn techniques to help prepare the body and brain for sleep
- Relationships- explore techniques that focus on being kinder to yourself and others- proven to increase happiness.
