After living through this pandemic, it isn’t surprising to find that self esteem, body confidence and mental health seem to be at an all time low right now. Whilst there are various forms of help and support out there, something often overlooked in improving these issues is getting involved in exercise. Not only does it change and shape your body, but it also helps the mind by releasing happy hormones, boosting energy and giving precious head space from this scary world.
You could go to the gym. You could go to Zumba. Or you can go to the Circus and fly!
Urban Circus are dedicated pole and aerial studios based in the centres of Harrogate and Ripon, established back in 2013. We offer adult classes covering pole fitness, pole dance, aerial hoop, aerial hammock and flexibility training. We also have childrens circus classes covering from babies (and mums during the early post natal period), toddlers, children and even dedicated teens classes where children can experience all the aerial disciplines as well as games, flexibility training and more. All our instructors are trained, fully insured fitness professionals with additional aerial certifications and experience, ensuring a safe and effective (and incredibly addictive) workout.
No previous experience or fitness level is required to join us and we pride ourselves on being a family – our community have supported each other through this pandemic, through pregnancies, loss and surviving motherhood, postponed weddings, endless disappointments, and a shared obsession with shiny pole wear and shoes! We’ve kept fit through online zoom classes, learnt useless trivia in zoom pub quizzes and kept each other laughing when we have needed it most. Now that we’re back together physically, all that is mixed into our classes (especially the useless trivia! Sorry not sorry as it distracts you from the burn of working out!)
We’re also open to any age and have many mother / daughter duos who come to us to spend time together (and by that we mean secretly compete with each other of course). So many wonderful women have told us over the years that they’re just too old or too weak to join, but that’s just simply not the case, and we love proving them wrong. Any shape, any age, any size, any gender. You might not be the best in the class, but you can bet you’ll be a fitter, stronger, happier version of you than the previous week!
We spent lockdown restructuring and planning our new improved Childrens classes to better cater to all ages, abilities and developmental stages. Our Childrens classes are wonderful for both gymnasts and dancers wanting to be challenged, but also for children who don’t enjoy traditional forms of exercise. Classes are relaxed and fun, enabling us to keep children engaged whilst tiring them out with hidden conditioning!
