The biggest of the council run pools. There is the main pool, a diving pool and a ‘beached’ fairly warm teaching pool which is great for kids who like to paddle! There are family changing rooms, some of which have baby changing tables and ‘strap-in’ chairs. The café there has a viewing area overlooking the teaching pool although I personally think the café is a little tired and grubby looking.
Ilkley’s lido is a good day out when it’s hot – big outdoor swimming pool and plenty of space to sunbathe.
There is a slide in this pool which is always a hit with the children but this pool always feels pretty cold.
“I took my little girl the other day as the baby pool at the Hydro was shut and it was brilliant. Changing room has a travel cot, the pool was really warm, there was no one else in and best of all a day pass was £5 which meant I could go later on when she was in bed and use the sauna and steam room. Very relaxing!” JW
Although this is a Victorian baths, the changing rooms have been refurbished to a high standard and are family friendly. This is the warmest pool and so is great for babies.
