Martin House Children’s Hospice

At Martin House we provide family- led care for babies, children and young people with life- limiting conditions. We support our  families through our respite care, symptom control, nursing, practical care, end of life care, and bereavement support.

Additionally, we have Community Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists and therapists who support families by offering practical, emotional and specialist-level palliative care in families homes.  We look after children with a multitude of different, very complex, often rare, sometimes even undiagnosed conditions.  Some are slow and progressive; some are very aggressive and need immediate specialist care. We have a team of specialist doctors and clinical nurse specialists who are all experts in understanding and managing these often-distressing symptoms.  We offer holistic care and understand the trauma a family experiences when their child has difficult symptoms.

Our Family Support & Wellbeing team, work with our families throughout their journey – whether that’s in the Hospice, in their own home or during an emergency hospital visit. We also care for children who have incurable illnesses when they reach the end of their lives.

We help the children to live as well as possible during their final stages, both through complex symptom control but also by supporting the whole family psychologically, emotionally and spiritually– we focus on enhancing their quality of life and creating the vital memory making moments that the family can carry forward into the rest of their lives to treasure forever.
