October Half Term at Fountains Abbey

Come and crunch in leaves at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal this October half term.

Autumn is one of the most colourful times of year to visit Fountains Abbey as the trees are looking their best, dressed in deep reds, bright yellows and shining golds. Put your wellies on, wrap up warm and marvel at this super seasonal show as you walk, run and explore around the estate.

Keep your eyes peeled for some of the autumn delights. See if you can spot any fat sweet chestnuts bursting open. Hear the stags roaring in the deer park as they compete for status in the annual rut? Feel the leaves crunch beneath your feet. What other autumn delights will you discover?

Get adventurous on a family day out during October half term. Zip, wobble and climb your way through the play area, wander through the abbey and become a water garden explorer, climbing up the Octagon Tower and through the dark Serpentine Tunnel.  Grab your ’50 things to do before you’re 11 3/4 ‘ check list from any admission point and explore the estate, ticking off things like… getting to know our trees on the Tree Trunk Trail, den building and even star gazing and watching the sun set if you come along to Fountains by Floodlight.

There’s lots to do but don’t worry if you can’t fit it all in this time – we’ll be here another day! Become a member on your first visit and come back for free as many times as you’d like.
