Have you been subjected to domestic abuse or have experience supporting those who have and wish to support women through their healing?
We are looking for a positive, outgoing and empathetic person to join our volunteer team. The role involves supporting our facilitator in the running of our life enhancing ‘Own My Life’ course that will run in daytime and evening both in person and virtually. This includes welcoming attendees, session support for our facilitator throughout the 12 week course and calling attendees following each session to check in on their mental and emotional health. This requires an open and non judgemental approach with a positive outlook, to build trust and ensure the provision of a safe and supportive environment. As such we are looking for someone with good interpersonal skills, a forward thinker with similar experience of either attending , running or supporting a group setting.
While monthly volunteer supervision will be provided by a trauma-informed coach we encourage those applying to have a strong awareness of their boundaries in order to protect their own mental health.
Availability required (in full or partially):
Tuesdays 7pm-9.30pm virtually
Wednesdays 10.30am – 2pm in person (Barnsley, exact location TBC)
Plus additional time to make follow up calls.
The service is a women-led peer service and is therefore restricted to women/non-binary (assigned female at birth) applicants under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 & Section 7(2)e of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975
