Paddling Pool Opening Times Harrogate & Knaresborough
Update Saturday 25th May 2019- The paddling pool in the Valley Gardens is now full! **This is not a drill!** It’s officially now summer in Harrogate!
So at this time of year, everyone is asking: When do the paddling pools get filled? We’ll we’ve got it on good authority from the council that they will be filled and ready for splashing by Bank Holiday Monday (27th May 2019)
There are 3 council provided paddling pools in our area..
Valley Gardens, Harrogate (off Valley Drive, Harrogate, HG2 0JS.)
The three pools are free to use and are open from May bank holiday, at the end of May, to the first week in September. All the paddling pools will be emptied on 9 September 2019.
Just so you know (We love a bit of ‘elf & safety here at Harrogate Mumber!) keeping the paddling pools clean & safe is no mean feat and the council do the following to make sure that our little ones can enjoy the summer splashing safely!
“All the pools are emptied, cleaned and refilled at least twice a week, (usually on a Monday and a Friday) This can take up to six hours, so be aware of this if you’re planning a visit!
As part of a strict maintenance regime, each pool is visited by staff who:
visit twice a day (morning and afternoon) seven days a week
test for chlorine levels, adding chlorine granules if necessary
check for broken glass in and around the pool
collect litter from the site and empty the litter bins
take water samples twice a season; these are tested for E Coli and other bacteria to make sure the water quality is safe”
