Harrogate and the surrounding areas are a fantastic place for bringing up children and there is plenty going on.
Below is a list of all the local playgroups and drop in clinics throughout the week and also details of all the childrenâs activities classes available across our area. Please contact the organisers directly if you would like to find out further information or to confirm class times or costs.

After dancing online throughout lockdown, we are so excited to be back in our physical classes and dancing with our little stars again in person. Our preschool dance and ballet syllabus offers four stages of ballet dance classes, for young children aged 6 months to 6 years, plus a tap dancing class for children over 3 years.

You can start classes with babyballet at any time and we offer a three-week introductory trial for ÂŁ15.00 to trial our magical classes before committing to a term.Â

Bloom
Bloom Baby Classes are multi award winning sensory classes and are run all over the UK. We have two classes, Caterpillar Club for babies aged 6 weeks – 6 months and Busy Bees for babies aged 6 months to walking.
CaterpillarÂ
Caterpillar Club is a gentle baby development class encouraging bonding. Our Caterpillar class awakens babies first senses and stimulates in a fun, yet soothing way, using music, sensory props and sensory lights. These encourage gross motor skills and body awareness. There is also a different fun theme every week. We end the class teaching baby massage leaving your baby ready for a long nap.
Busy Bees
Busy Beesis a highly interactive, musical class, focusing on babyâs growing confidence within the big wide world. Encouraging both fine and gross motor skills, teaching body awareness and stimulating your baby’s perception of sounds with our fun range of songs and activities. At theme time, your baby gets to explore our range of bright props and exciting heuristic treasure baskets whilst developing their social skills with fellow Bloom babies!
Upstairs, our cozy cafe is open Mon-Fri, 8:30 AM – 4 PM, and Sat, 9 AM – 1 PM. Parents/carers can gather while kids enjoy our free toy library.

Hello my name is Suzie Fairy Enchantica and Iâm an educational theatre and well-being specialist. My classes bring learning to life through sing-along musical adventures and include sprinkles of preschool yoga along the way.
If you are looking for a feel-good class that will help you and your little one(s) shine bright and feel great then these classes are for you.
You can enjoy classes in-person at Enchantica’s Workshop (just behind M&S on Leeds Road in Harrogate) on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays or any day of the week at home via my online learning academy.

Suzie Beats sessions are designed as a learning experience for preschool children and their grown ups. These entertaining and educational story journey sessions use instruments, puppets, tactile materials, music, rhyme and song to bring learning to life. With a sprinkling of story yoga and guided relaxation magic these classes provide a magical combination of entertainment, education and well-being for you to enjoy with your little ones.

RISING STARS STORY YOGA (3-4 yrs, 4-5 yrs or 5-7 yrs)
Rising Stars Story Yoga and Well-Being Classes are designed for various ages from 2.5-8yrs. Sessions include yoga, drama, stories, movement, singing, dance, speech exercises, along with mindfulness and relaxation. The sessions have been designed to help children relax, improve their self-esteem, focus, manage their emotions, be imaginative and creative, sleep better and make friends.
Rising Stars classes are available for pre-schoolers aged 3-4, children in Reception aged 4-5, and children in Years 1&2, or Years 3-6.

Come and unwind, connect with your baby, learn baby massage techniques with me (Phillippa) and meet others in the comfort of my own home with my holistic massage approach. Youâll learn a variety of ways to soothe your baby whether it be for relaxation and fun or to assist with ailments such as constipation, colic etc.
Iâll make you feel supported and looked after with drinks/biscuits and give you a space to literally exhale. Iâm a mummy to three young children and Iâve been to many baby classes along the way feeling sleep deprived with a sore back from long nights wanting to meet others going through the same life changing stage at the same time. All this has led me to make this one special class that Iâd have loved to go to when I was at this same fuzzy beautiful phase.

Green Lane is a small and friendly home childcare setting. We offer 2 hour sessions from 9:45 â 11:45am every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for children of 18 months to school age. We will happily book children in on a regular basis, but can also offer a more flexible service. Term time only.
Green lane is run by Lucinda and Torie, we are two local Mummies who both have Montessori and Early Years qualifications. Having had 6 children between us, we understand how all consuming young children can be. We wanted to offer a service that would allow parents a bit of breathing space, whilst also developing their social skills, independence and creativity in a home from home environment.
At typical morning for us would be allowing children time to explore the activities on offer; these are changed on a regular basis to follow the interests of the children. We then enjoy a healthy snack together before heading outside to feed the guinea pigs, enjoy messy play, digging or whatever the children would like to explore!

Our much loved stay and play sessions will return to Toy Library HQ at The Old School in Knaresborough every Wednesday and Friday, 10am – 11.30am.
Sessions will be open to all and will run in a very similar way to our pre-covid play sessions – toys and resources will be set up for children to access while grown-ups can enjoy playing along and socialising with others! The only change that we need to make, for now, is that there will be no snack provided for children. You are very welcome to bring along your own snacks though (but please avoid nuts!)
Drinks will be available for grown ups but please bring your own reusable cup. Cups will not be provided so please donât forget!!
Toilet and baby change facilities will be open – as always, please take nappies away with you to dispose of off site.
Sessions are ÂŁ3.50 plus 50p per additional child – we can only accept card payments (we have a snazzy new card machine!), we will no longer be accepting cash.
While face coverings are not compulsory, you are very welcome to wear one!

Baby Wearing Dance Classes in Harrogate, Knaresborough & Ripon
Come and join our baby wearing dance classes for a fun and active way for you to bond with your babies while getting in some exercise! In these classes, parents wear their babies in your own baby carrier while learning various dance moves and routines. We understand that wearing your baby for the full class may not be possible so we also offer a boogie baby zone for your little ones to play while you get to dance!
The classes incorporate elements of different dance styles with a range of music to accommodate everyoneâs preferences. It’s a great way to combine physical activity, social interaction, and quality time with your little one.

Friendly stay and playgroup in Darley, Nidderdale. Ran by Niddedale Community Church. We have a baby corner, messy play station, variety of free play toys and an activity table. Each session includes toast and drink for little ones and homemade cake for adults. Sessions finish with storytelling from the Bible and a sing song. ÂŁ2 per family, 9.30-11 term time.
