Do you have a toddler who just goes a bit nuts between tea time and bed time? We do. Trying to persuade her it really is time to go to bed come 7 o’clock can be a battle.
So I’ve been trying to think of quiet activities we can do together to calm her down and make sure she is in the right mood for bed, this makes it easier for everyone involved!
The activity is a colour match game that uses things you will no doubt have around the house.
You can make it in 10 minutes tonight, all ready for the hyper hour tomorrow evening!
The idea of the game is to match the correct pegs (that have been coloured) with the same colour in the egg box. I used Sharpies (permanent marker) so if I were to re-use the pegs the colour would (hopefully!) not come off on the clean washing; forward thinking there.
First, I coloured in the tips of the egg carton. I wondered if a nearly 2 year old would be able to open the pegs to clip them on. Yours might be a bit more dexterous than mine! But I decided to put colour in the cups as well. This way she can put the pegs in the cups and then learn to peg when she gets a bit older.
And the result? Well, she sat quietly and calmly and matched the colours up very well! She did however find a novel way to put the pegs on the colours.
