We’re so pleased that we have been able to open our cave doors to you all again! We’ve missed you! As its been a while we thought we’d give you a quick recap on what you can expect from a trip to the legendary Stump Cross Caverns as well as tell you what might have changed since the last time you visited! We want to make your trip to Stump Cross Caverns as safe and fun as possible!
The caves are open for business! We’ve reduced the number of people we let down the caves so everyone can adhere to socially distance rules and we also suggest that people now pre-book their slots – we let people down in 10 min time slots. Not much has changed down there – it takes thousands of years to make those formations! Its a great place to explore whatever the weather – but we’d advise you wear wellies down there! Hard hats are provided – they’re cleaned after each use.
The Time Cafe is back open – a reduced menu and not as many tables, again so we can socially distance. But we still have plenty to keep you satisfied – from sweet treats to some home made classics! The Caveman’s Breakfast is a must have! We have lots of outdoor picnic tables too. Again we’d advise pre-booking a table as it gets really busy! We’re taking part in the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out Scheme over August too!
The Cinema is open but this is only open to bubbles. If you’d like to rent it out get in touch and we’ll see what we can arrange! We have a huge range of movies to choose from – or if you’d like to bring your own please do! The cinema gets a full Stumpy clean after every viewing!
We’ve added a new addition up here too – The Stumpy Van! Our very own ice cream van selling our favourite ice creams and sweet treats all home made by our wonderful chef! We’ve had people travel far and wide for one of our ice cream Sundaes during lockdown! It was such a hit that The Stumpy Van is here to stay!
Outside – as well as wonderful views and picnic tables we also have a big old sand pit for the children to enjoy. We can’t provide any toys for them to play with at the moment but they are more than welcome to bring their own!
So please come and visit it us this summer! We’ve missed you and can’t wait to see you all! We’ve got a one way system in place with plenty of stickers to help you socially distance, all the staff are wearing visors and masks, we’ve got perspex screens up at serving points and sanitiser dispensers throughout the building.
For more information and to pre book please visit our website, we’re open every day throughout the holidays! We can also confirm we’ll have something special going on in the caves this summer – we have a brilliant science teacher coming to do some weird and wacky experiments! Watch this space for more details…
From Lisa and all the team!
