We’ve been open a couple of months now – and I can’t tell you how brilliant it is to welcome you all back! We’ve even had a few familiar faces too – did you spot us on TV?
If you’re looking for a family day out for all the family (including the dog!) then you must come and visit us up at Stump Cross Caverns!
We are open DAILY from 9am – 6pm! It’s the perfect place to visit over the summer holidays – whatever the weather!
If you’re planning to visit us this summer please do book online in advance. We do take in walk ins but to make sure we adhere to social distancing we do often get fully booked. After being shut for so long, we would hate to turn people away! This is what you can expect from a visit this summer!
Whatever your age, you’ll love it down the caves. Due to the number of stairs it isn’t suitable for some people – but have a word with one of our friendly staff members and they’ll be able to advise you! We have had people go down with babies in carriers – but be warned there is a lot of bending down involved for adults!
The caves are about a mile long – we send you down in your own bubbles, and have designated passing points. We ask you to wear your masks down there. As we stagger entry you won’t see too many other groups down there! Hard hats are provided, and essential!! For the little ones there is a brilliant fairy trail down there, it’s included in your entry fee and if you get all the answers right you’ll even win a prize! Wellies are recommended, and whatever the weather is like outside its usually about 7 degrees down the caves, so dress appropriately! It probably takes about 45minutes to get round the cave network – but take as long as you want!
The Time Cafe is a big hit with all the family! Word on the street is we serve the best chips in Yorkshire! We certainly serve Yorkshire portions – you’ll need it after your cave adventures! Make sure you leave room for cake and ice cream! The legendary Stumpy Ice Cream van will be open over summer! Everything is home made and cooked from scratch, it does mean people might have to wait a little longer than usual, but believe me it’s worth it!
For those not so nice summer days why not rent out our cinema room! We have hundreds of DVD for you to choose from, or feel free to bring your own! You can order food from The Time Cafe and we’ll get it delivered to your seat! It’s only £6 per person – we do currently have restrictions on numbers but hopefully these will be lifted soon!
The Time Pod can be rented out for a private dining experience – great for a family gathering! The views are amazing! You can order from The Time Cafe menu or alternatively, we can create a bespoke menu for you – just get in touch and we’ll see what we can do!
For when the weather is behaving themselves – we have LOADS of outdoor seating – and some amazing walks on our doorstep – we’ll happily recommend some of our favourites if you pop in! We also have a huge sandpit for the little ones to enjoy – rumour has it there are a few dinosaur fossils in there!
If you’ve got a campervan then why not stay the night! We rent out pitches from £5 per night, it was so popular last year we’re doing it again this year!
Finally, we’ve been overwhelmed with the support of the public over this pandemic! Without you we wouldn’t be open today! We want to improve the cave’s lighting, and to do so we are raffling our flat in Pateley Bridge for only £10 per ticket! For your chance to win please take a look at our crowdfunding page.
We can’t wait to welcome you all – both new and returning customers! It’s been far too long!
Lisa, Nick and Team Stumpy! x
