There is nothing better than Autumn in my option : Scarves, boots and a good old hot chocolate to keep you warm! It’s a tough job but we take things seriously at Harrogate Mumbler. We’ve been busy sampling hot chocolates from around the area, as well as asking you lovely lot on our chat group and these are some of our absolute favourites! It’s by no means an exclusive list, as much as we’ve tried we haven’t sampled every hot chocolate in the local area (yet!)…I’m sure we’ll get there though!
When I was doing my internet research for this blog (told you I was taking this seriously!), there was so much love for the LMDC hot chocolate! Seriously – this was AMAZING! Look how big it is! Not only is it piled high with cream and marshmallows (a must in my how to make hot chocolate book!) but it’s made with the finest Belgium chocolate, melted into frothy milk. It’s like heaven in a cup. A big statement but so far my favourite yet!
Just like everything they serve up at The Time Cafe, their hot chocolates are insane! Served with cream, marshmallows AND caramel sauce. Just what’s needed to warm you up! £3.75 and served in the largest of mugs! They go amazingly with their home made cakes and tray bakes!
We’re a big fan of a lunch out at the Marks and Spencer Cafe on Cambridge Street. Easy, quick, great food and staff! Ideal for when you’re shopping in town and the little one needs a bit of a break (and a pepper pig biscuit!). They have a whole hot chocolate menu at the moment! I went for the orange hot chocolate – so dreamy! Felt really christmasy too, lots of whipped cream and choc sprinkles too!
My friend and her little girl have a little Autumn tradition of heading to Bettys on a Saturday morning for hot chocolates! They even do a smaller hot chocolate for children! A must try for anyone – tourists and locals! Infact, I think I might copy my friend and start this little tradtion for my daughter and I!
When i first started my (very important) research for this blog my first thought was DOE. I checked their fabulous Instagram page but couldn’t see any posts on Hot Chocolates, instead I fell into an Insta rabbit hole of donuts and rocky roads! But then yesterday – what was to appear on my feed? Doe are doing Hot Chocolates- toasted pink marshmallow hot chocolate to be precise! My god they are amazing! And now they have a WHITE chocolate hot chocolate – oh Doe you really are spoiling us!
Coloured marshmallows here! Absolutely delicious and great to keep you warm on an Autumnal walk across the Stray.
Love everything about Mama Doreen’s – my daughter said this was her favourite hot chocolate! Chocolately, creamy goodness! Goes perfectly with one of their cupcakes!
OMG we’ve been to The Harrogate Tea Rooms and tried their White Hot Chocolate. Oh my days, someone tell the Milkybar kid – this was AMAZING! By far the best white hot chocolate i’ve ever had! Seriously felt like they’d melted a milkybar or two! Delicious!
A big favourite within the local community. We love it here, the hot chocolate, the coffee, the milkshakes – all insane! Don’t even get me started on the cakes! Lovely local coffee shop, really doggy friendly!
My local, and its just lovely! They have a large selection of syrups too if you wanted to add that to the mix too! A hot chocolate here is best served with their chocolate orange brownies!
Another local and a favourite of Sally’s. There were no marshmallows or cream this time, but (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) – that doesn’t matter! A high coco content hot chocolate meant this was just fabulously rich as it was!
Where is your favourite place for hot chocolate? Have we included it on our round up? We’ll keep the research going – but special mention to Farmhouse, Mrs Smiths, The Wild Plum, Jenny’s Tea Room, Palm Court Cafe, Crimple Hall, Lago di Como and Lime Tree Cafe in Knaresborough are all on our list!
We’ve also been advised by one of our readers to try Slingsbys on Tower Street!
