Jack & The Beanstalk (relaxed performances) at Harrogate Theatre
Everyone can relax and enjoy panto in Harrogate
Jack and the Beanstalk is Harrogate Theatre’s magical family pantomime for this year. It runs through until Sunday 20th January, with good availability still on many dates after the new year.
Harrogate Theatre aims to make shows as accessible as possible. As well as offering special Audio Described, British Sign Language, and captioned performances they also offer Relaxed Performances – which are perfect for anxious or very young children.
At the Relaxed panto performances small technical changes are made to create a gentler theatre environment.
These changes include:
* Lower sound volume
* Low lighting in the auditorium
* Softened special effects
* No sudden loud noises
* Freedom to stand and move around
* Freedom to leave and re-enter at any point
* Breakout space to relax in if needed
* Live feed from the stage to screens in the bars
If you have a small person who feels anxiety over experiences like visiting panto and so misses out – or perhaps you have a very young child you’d like to bring for the first time – these relaxed versions could well be perfect.
Jack and the Beanstalk Relaxed Performances – Wed 9 Jan 2019 10am and 6pm

Arts and Crafts with Katie
‘Arts and Crafts with Katie’ is an art club which runs every school holiday, for children aged between 7 and 11. I am a local artist, and I also work as a teaching assistant at a local Primary school. The clubs run for 3 hours a session and cost £10 per child. Locations can vary. All materials are provided and the children get to take home all of the things that they have made.
In each session, children get to experience a different creative technique through a fun (and often very messy) project. Anything from throwing water balloons full of paint, to making an animated drawing by folding paper can happen; and every holiday has something different.
January 3rd club will be using drawing ink to make bubble prints and winter trees, constructing a bobble head character out of card, spinning paint in a salad spinner to see what happens and tie dying a t-shirt. For more information, to book January’s session, or to be put on the mailing list for future clubs, please contact Katie via e-mail at: email@example.com
