Through our workshops, people living with a range of disabilities discover their talents, put them into practice and realise their full potential. Over 150 Art Makers access the Centre each week to take part in around 18 different workshops.
This role will support and assist the Workshop Leader to facilitate a workshop programme at Chain Lane Community Centre. The Workshop Assistant will assist in encouraging and instructing Art Makers to reach their full potential in a safe and creative setting.
Key responsibilities will include:
– Provide care and assistance as and when necessary to art makers in the workshop.
– To assist in the instruction and supervision of Art Makers with disabilities within workshop sessions.
– Liaise with the workshop leader about the aims, objectives of the workshop and its individual Art maker needs.
An ability and willingness to assist Art Makers with their personal care requirements as needed, whilst maintaining their dignity, is an essential requirement of the role. Effective communication skills – verbal & written, and commitment to inclusive/individualised learning, is also essential. Experience of working in an Arts/Education environment, as well as experience of working with people with visual impairment and/other disability is desirable but full training will be given.
