Eating Out Harrogate

Town Centre

Restaurant Reviews

Eating out with kids can sometimes be something of a challenge (understatement of the year!) There are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants in the Harrogate area which really do welcome children and families so I’ve compiled a list of them here.

These places are not all ‘exclusively’ for families or children but they have all shown thoughtful touches or great facilities (things like pushchair access, changing facilities, highchairs and so on)

At Harrogate Mumbler we are always looking to ‘spread the word’ if we find out about any little gems, so if you know of a pub, restaurant or café that should be included in this listing then please contact us here.

Caffe Marconi, Princes Square, Harrogate

As well as being a great café during the day serving delicious ciabattas, coffee and cakes, Marconi turns into a pizzeria each night serving authentic Italian dishes at very reasonable prices.

The children’s menu is fantastic value for money. It costs just £5 and includes dough sticks, pizza/pasta, a scoop of ice cream and a glass of juice.

Caffe Marconi’s early-bird adult menu is available from 3 to 7.30pm daily (Monday to Saturday and from 12 to 5pm on Sunday) and one of Marconi’s delicious pizzas (try their Leggera, it really is good)….. and a glass of house wine or beer – all for just £7.95.

Runamocha Harrogate

Runamocha is a new style of Family Friendly Restaurant; one that actually has a bit of style! It is located between Cattlemans and the clothes shop “Pookie” on Cheltenham Parade, and despite a few pushchair unfriendly stairs up to the front door it it well worth a visit.

The food is simply delicious (and this includes the children’s menu; my own kids are huge fans of the hotdog lolly pops) and is served by friendly and attentive staff.  They are very welcoming to families and the interactive flatscreen computers dotted around the place keep the children entertained (and allegedly educated; which is good enough for me when a peaceful lunch is at stake!)

“Following a comment on here previously my husband and I took our 3 1/2 yr old and 12 week old for lunch today to Runamocha. Wow we were impressed, we had a rare relaxed lunch while our 3 1/2 yr old really enjoyed herself with the interactive screen and we even had a play ourselves  we didn’t have to tell her off once as she was just so well entertained and we felt so comfortable, the food was great and the staff very attentive – thoroughly recommend.” AS Jan ’14

“Just wanted to recommend runamocha- we had a fabulous time today and were well looked after by the fantastic staff. We were a party of 8 adults and 2 children aged 2yrs and 5yrs and it was perfect. As well as the massive interactive screen, there was a fish tank and lots of toys to play with. Oh and the food was amazing too!” VG Feb ’14

Starling Independent Beer and Coffee House, Oxford Street (Opposite Jojo Maman Bebe)

Don’t be put off by the apparent pushchair access issues here, Starling are very welcoming to children and will help you with your buggy (They will either park it under the stairs or help you carry it upstairs)

There is a children’s menu, great changing facilities and toys in the upstairs back room. They do amazing Pizza’s and owner Simon is a dad himself so he knows the score!

More than 100 delicious Japanese street food and sushi dishes at YO! – eat in, delivery or takeaway.

YO! Sushi offer a mini ninja meal deal which includes a starter, main & drink for £5.95

Zizzi’s

Station Square.

Similar sort of target market as Pizza Express but the building is configured differently so there are a variety of smaller rooms rather than one big open space. Families are made to feel very welcome here and there is a decent children’s menu for £6.50 including dough sticks, pizza or pasta and a desert. There is also a tiny kids menu for £3.
