Brackenfield is a small, independent school with a friendly, family feel for pupils aged 2 to 11. The school is idyllically located in the Duchy conservation area of Harrogate.
Brackenfield is unique in Harrogate in that it is not directly associated with any senior school and pupils leaving Year 6 move on to a mix of independent and state secondary schools. Selecting the right school for your child is a very big decision, particularly when making that choice at birth. We look at each child’s unique strengths, abilities and learning style to advise you on next steps, whether this be in independent or state education.
We invite all children wishing to join Brackenfield to spend a day at the school. This allows them to meet some current pupils and to experience life at Brackenfield for themselves. These Taster Days also enable staff to become acquainted with pupils prior to admission to the school.

This year there won’t be an open day but the Head Teacher will be doing tours of the school, 1 family at a time. Parents just need to call the school and we will book them in at a convenient time for them.
Most of the tour will be outdoors but we will be able to safely tour parts of the inside of school, looking at the hall and libraries as these areas are not being used by the children at this time. Although we cannot go into classes, we can see into them as we tour inside. We would encourage adults only to attend, to help us maintain our corona-safety rules.
Prospective parents can also look at our webpage which includes a video of their Reception Classroom and outdoor space.
To book your tour please call 01423 563760.

A little insight into Willow Tree Primary School:
A virtual trip to the bookshop for Willow Tree Primary School
Real life trips and visits might be off the cards for a while longer, but Willow Tree Primary School is determined to continue to raise the profile of reading for pleasure. Year 3 and Year 4 pupils were very lucky to receive an invite to ‘The Great Big Book Hullabaloo’ from the Little Ripon Bookshop. Each class received an exciting delivery which included top secret details for the event and a book from the author and illustrator they then got to meet virtually – Laura Ellen Anderson. Laura Ellen Anderson spoke to the excited children about her Amelia Fang books and gave them tips for developing characters in their own stories guiding them through two illustrations. They had a fantastic afternoon creating their drawings of Squashy the pumpkin for their own book cover!
Year 3 & 4 Phase Leader, Miss McCauley commented: “Author visits have previously been a regular event for us at school and we were determined that current restrictions weren’t going to stop these from happening. The children get so much out of meeting the people behind the stories they know and love. The afternoon was a huge success and it was fantastic to see the children so engaged with Laura’s talk – we can’t wait to apply what we learnt to our own illustrations and stories!”
This year at Woodfield Primary School we would like to offer you the opportunity to look around our setting on either:
Tuesday 3rd November 3.45pm-5.30pm
Thursday 12th November 3.45pm- 5.30pm
The tour will include a visit to the classrooms, computer suite, library and outdoor provision. Prospective parents can also look at our website, which includes more information about our Reception Classroom and outdoor space.
The tours will be conducted one family at a time. All visits must be pre booked and we would encourage adults only to attend to help us maintain Covid-19 guidance.
To book your tour please contact the school office 01423 566494. Or email firstname.lastname@example.org
