Børn of the Forest is a classroom without walls where children learn from nature, within nature. Our sessions, based on the principles of the Forest School approach, allow children to learn about nature, the environment, their world and themselves through natural, open ended play, creation, exploration, and discovery.

Term time Monday 10-11.30, 1-2.30; Wednesday 10-11.30 and Thursday 10-11.30

Join us in our beautiful woodland setting designed for you and your child to connect with each other and nature while you stay and play together.

Each session will have some adult led element such as a story or craft activity but is really intended to be child led as our environment is set up for exploration and discovery…Cook up some muddy meals in our dirty diner, hunt for insects, watch out for wildlife in our birdhide, swing, build dens, chill in the hammocks, balance on our slackline… There really is so much to enjoy!

Come explore, create, experiment and experience the awe and wonder of nature at Børn of the Forest.

June half term Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9.30-11. 11.30-1 and 1.30-3. All ages.

This session is similar to our pre-schooler session but opened up to all primary aged children for the school holidays.

Summer Holidays 2nd 3rd, 4th August 9-4pm.

A summer holiday club they’ll never forget! Join us for 3 days of forest school fun from 9am-4pm for children aged 5-11. Sessions are led by DBS checked, qualified and experienced staff and prices start from just £30 a day.

Forest school looks at each child individually to enable self-esteem, independence, and creativity to flourish in the fresh air. Our high adult to child ratios of 1:6 enables staff to work closely with your child to develop skills and concepts while still giving them the opportunity to play and build relationships with their peers.

We follow the children’s lead and free play and exploration is a big part of the day. We will also plan activities such as den/shelter building, fire lighting, outdoor cooking, team games, wood work, tool use, and nature-based craft giving each participant an opportunity to learn about and connect to the natural environment, problem solve, and enjoy being part of a team.

Come explore, create, experiment and experience the awe and wonder of nature at Børn of the Forest.

Holidays are planned in advance to offer loads of fun, with at least two outings each week. We offer activities at the school such as T-shirt painting, wet and wild water fun, messy crafts, quizzes, karaoke and dance and many other lively activities. Outings on offer are varied and fun, using public transport, coaches. often by foot and sometimes on bikes. Examples of outings would be Harlow Carr, Valley Gardens, Knaresborough (crazy golf/castle tours) or Pannal and Hookstone for woodland walks and den building. Normally the holiday club is based at St Peter’s school but please note that the holiday club may operate at any one of our other Harrogate Funclub locations i.e.: Oatlands, Pannal, Richard Taylor or Rossett Acre schools if necessary.

Get ready for the Grange Partnership May Half Term Holiday 2021

This holiday is all about getting crafty!

Over the holiday we will be baking whacky biscuits, getting messy with painting, making rainbow streamers, suncatchers and modelling with clay and salt dough. Let your creativity and imagination run wild!

We are a child lead setting so free choice of games, toys and craft is always offered alongside our advertised activities. We play outside in our large playground and private garden every day.

We run a covid secure holiday club with protective measures and guidance as advised by the government. Parents are not allowed in the building, the children are in bubbles, we are outside as much as possible, windows are kept open for ventilation and we keep to a strict hygiene routine. Please contact us if you would like more information.

All children need to bring a packed lunch and a drink. We provide breakfast and snacks and water is available throughout the day. Please wear old clothes as we love to get messy! Don’t forget your coat and wellies/sunhat and sunglasses.

We are open 8 till 6.

Children from 3 to 11 are welcome, please contact us if your child is preschool age and we will arrange a trial session for you.
