Our Mumbler Champion Anna, took her 9 month old Elodie along to a Bloom Babies Class at Brood cafe earlier this week.
At the bottom of one of my favourite roads in Harrogate, Commercial Street, is the cosiest little kids focused cafe called Brood. I had never been before but was so happy that was where the Bloom Babies Class I had the pleasure of attending was based.
Hannah who runs the cafe and the Bloom Babies class welcomed me into the class space which is downstairs from the cafe. We were joining the pirate theme week and the class set up was brilliant. Full of sensory props and exciting things for Elodie to explore. The class was really intimate with only 8 mums and 8 babies in the class which meant I got chance to say hello to everyone there.
The sensory class is really interactive, getting grown ups up and moving around as well as the babies. The class starts with a lovely wake up song with hand movements to join in with, but as the class goes on you get to get up on your feet and have a full on boogie around the room with baby in your arms which Elodie Absolutely loved.
Hannah was great with the babies coming round and spending time with each one. If your little one is a bubble lover (like Elodie) they will love this class as the bubble machine was out on a few occasions. The bubble machine was just one of the sensory props Hannah used. We had Pom Poms, shakers and of course the ever favourite parachute to name but a few in just the ones session.
Once we had finished with the songs the babies had chance to explore all the great pirate props and sensory bits Hannah had around the room. This made for some very cute baby pirate pictures, with little pirate hats for each baby to wear and blow up swords for the babies to hold it was cuteness overload. Elodie loved getting stuck into all the lights tinsel and balls about the room. She was quite a happy little pirate.
My absolute favourite part of the whole things was how relaxed it was. Hannah made sure that we all felt welcome and that we could sit have a coffee and a natter at the end. There was no pressure to get up and out. It made the whole experience really lovely and quite relaxing. Which is a rare feeling with a 9 month old. If you are looking for a lovely sensory class for your little one I would definitely give Bloom babies at Brood cafe a go!
