Meet Mother Christmas in her sitting room to check in and collect your sleigh ride tickets.
Meet at the sleigh pick up point for your chosen time to be greeted by Buddy the elf who will help you board Santa’s sleigh for your magical sleigh ride.
You will arrive at Father Christmas’s woodland grotto where you can sit by the fire and tell him your Christmas wishes.
Wrap up warm and enjoy some fresh air whilst having some special family time on the run up to Christmas.
For these magical, festive family sessions, you will have time exploring and playing in the forest. There will be a campfire with festive treats, Christmas themed activities and you will have the chance to craft your own woodland decoration to take home.

Before we know it, winter will be here and Castle Howard is all set to help make magical memories this Christmas. The entire Estate will be transformed into a winter wonderland as Tinkerbell sprinkles fairy dust over the Castle and Grounds, creating a Christmas day out like no other. The main House will be transformed into a Peter Pan-themed odyssey, with beautiful decorations, installations, and projections.

Share a laugh and photograph with Santa in our Courtyard Grotto this Christmas. Enjoy a short show bursting with puppetry, energy, and Christmas joy, before that all-important meeting with the man himself.

As twilight falls see the abbey aglow with all the colours of the rainbow from 2pm – 5pm every Saturday and Sunday between 25 November – 31 December (excluding 3 and 10 December).
Once you’ve finished the Christmas shopping, explored the family trail and been revived by a warming mug of hot chocolate, it’s time for Music and Lights. Walk beneath the abbey cellarium’s vaulted ceilings, under the grand columns of the nave and stop to watch the live choirs and bands fill the ruins with festive music. Join in if you know the tune! Bands and choirs will play in the cellarium from 2-3pm. Last admission is at 4pm and the estate will close at 5pm as usual. You don’t need to book a ticket to visit as Music and Lights is part of normal admission.
Everyone is welcome to join the Carols by Candle services in the Cellarium on Sunday 3 and Sunday 10 December from 3pm – 4pm
Pick up a candle on your way in and see the flickering glow of hundreds of candles light up the abbey cellarium. Sing along to well know carols accompanied by Ripon City Band. Pre-booking will be essential, visit the website to find out more.
Come along to our On the Hoof event on Saturday 2, Saturday 9 and Saturday 22 December from 11:30am-12:20pm. Watch the wild deer munching through their winter feed and chat to our rangers who’ll be on hand to answer your questions.

Our magical ‘escape room’ style interactive show for budding codebreakers is back with a new mission for 2023! Santa is missing, and you need to find him, except it’s not quite that simple! The highly-anticipated Harrogate Ice Rink returns to Crescent Gardens for the second year in a row; running alongside the Harrogate Christmas Fayre from 1st December and remaining open until 7th January 2024.
This festive favourite will be bigger and better than ever before, hosting not only a bigger ice rink, but an outdoor bar, a cosy sheltered tipi, funfair rides including a carousel and bungee trampolines, and a Yorkshire Wrap food stall – vegetarian and vegan options available.
Immerse yourself in the magic of Christmas with this family-friendly and affordable attraction coming to the centre of Harrogate from December to January.
Harrogate Ice Rink is open from 11am every day until 19:30 on weekdays and 20:45 on weekends. You can book a one-hour session for a reduced price of £10 per ticket (plus booking fee) this year, and each ticket purchased will also grant 50% off any hot drink at the bar on site; including mulled wine and hot chocolate.
Adults and children aged 4+ are welcome at Harrogate Ice Rink. Free skate hire is available on site and there are skate aids available on a first come first served basis, these are available for £5 per user.
During your visit to Crescent Gardens, be sure to visit the Harrogate Christmas Fayre, ride on the Candy Cane Express road train, or experience the open top bus, which stops at the Ice Rink too!

The ‘new’ experience, ‘Christmas Cuddles’ will run from Saturday 9th December, including evening sessions until Christmas. The experience will include meeting a selection of our llamas and alpacas inside our barn, lots of interaction, strokes and cuddles, learning funny facts about them and of course photo opportunities! The experience concludes with a festive drink and treat. The session lasts 1hour including refreshments time, all sessions must be pre-booked. Booking can be done via completing an enquiry form on our website and entering your requested date/ time or by telephone.
The experience is for adults, teenagers and families with children over 7yrs. We regret no babies or children younger than 7yrs can be admitted to the farm.
Prices are on the website £25 pr adult and £15 pr child.

The Fading Light of Ruins will see St Mary’s Church transformed into a spectacle of light between 16-30 November
Scarborough Sparkle and Lantern Parade returns for 2023, a magical and enchanting Christmas wonderland at Scarborough Open Air Theatre between 24 – 26 November. It’s the perfect event to experience the warm and fuzzy festive feeling, sample great food and drink, and get a head start on Christmas gift shopping. Entertainment include the Ferris, wheel, teacups, hook a duck, MEGA fun house or take a ride on the illuminated land train!
Ships Ahoy! at Scarborough Harbour will see the fishing vessels and yachts all lit up at sea; a beautiful sight as you look out across the South Bay in Scarborough. This runs the duration of the festival and is free.
Signs of the Times is a town centre trail of illuminated text artworks celebrating some of Scarborough’s uncelebrated or forgotten places.
Drift-Lit at Scarborough Train Station will run from 2 – 9 December between 6pm-7pm.

Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland will be returning to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet York.
The Ice Factor – the North of England’s largest outdoor ice rink at 975 sq m – will have a 30ft high sparkling Christmas tree as its centrepiece, surrounded by illuminated trees, log cabins, the rink side cafe and a viewing platform.
This year the funfair will be bigger and better, with new modern rides including an exciting Twist and Waltzer. There will be 5 children’s rides and game stalls offering prizes every time.
Also new this year is a terrace overlooking the ice rink. Inside the alpine-themed café, tasty food and drinks will be available to purchase, and private parties can be arranged.
The Winter Garden with its heated covered picnic tables offers an alternative outdoor eating area, with The Dog Haus cabin selling a range of hot dogs and festive drinks.
Christmas would not be the same without a visit to Santa and his elves, and this year visitors can enjoy an extended snowy woodland walk to his cosy log cabin grotto where a warm welcome and a special gift for children awaits.

You will be taken into our enchanted gingerbread house where you will search for hidden sweet treats and decorate your own gingerbread decoration whilst enjoying the magical UV lights.
Loopy Tooty will then take you through into the winter wonderland water room where you can enjoy a family snow ball fight and some giant snowy messy play – can you find all of the Snowman’s buttons and nose??!!
We will then come and find you to take you to the workshop.

Finally, move into Santa’s Grotto and meet the big man himself, Father Christmas who will give you your very own tailored sensory gift. Enjoy magical story time with Mrs Claus a hot cup of chocolate or warm spiced punch and a Christmas cookie or mince pie.
