FAQ

Q- How do I get a Mumbler Award?

We don’t decide- the people of Harrogate do. If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning you’ll need to ask your customers, friends and family to nominate you during the nomination month (1st July to 31st July 2023). If you get enough nominations then you’ll make it onto our shortlist which is announced on 1st September. Then the campaigning really starts!

Q- How long is the Nomination period?

Nominations close on 31st July 2023. We will publish the full list of all nominations at the end of August.

The shortlist (which will be the top 4-8 nominees in each category) will be announced just prior to the voting opening on 1st September 2023.

Q-What about the shortlist vote?

Voting for the winners will start on 1st September 2023 and will close at midnight on 15th October 2023.

Q- Do I have to campaign for votes?

No, of course you don’t have to however, usually the winners each year make a special effort to contact their customers, friends and family and ask them to nominate and vote for them.

To make it easy for you, we have designed “Please vote for us” and “Please nominate us” posters and social media banners. You could also e-mail your customer base, hand out flyers and simply ask your customers nicely if they’ll vote for you!

Do I have to attend the Awards Dinner to win?

No, you don’t have to attend but we would really love you to be there. It is not a boring awards night; it is a fun, lively evening and you will have a fantastic night even if you don’t win. If you are a finalist and you know that you can’t attend then please send a brief “acceptance” speech to harrogate@mumbler.co.uk

If you are the lucky winner on the night then we will get a representative to read out your message and we will forward the trophy to you.

Q- Why do you ask for comments on the nomination form?

At Mumbler we believe sharing is caring. We use some of the lovely comments (anonymised, of course) on the night, to tell the audience a little more about each business. After the Awards, we send out all of the fantastic comments to all of the finalists. It’s a great part of the job and we love spreading the good vibes!

Q- Do you check for cheaters?

Yes we do! Every vote is checked and someone has cheated we remove all of their votes. Please only vote once!

Q-Why limit the voting area?

These are the Harrogate Mumbler Awards and are for businesses and customers within the Harrogate district. We have other Mumbler towns now and they will host their own Mumbler Awards in the future.

Q – How much are tickets?

Thanks to our generous headline sponsor’s North Residential, we are keeping ticket prices the same as last year – £55 (including VAT) per ticket.

Q I’ve booked to come to the Awards Night, will I get a ticket in the post?

No, we don’t send out paper tickets. Check your ticket invoice for the final details. Your names will be on the guest list on the night.

Q what is the date of the Awards?

For the first time ever, we’re holding the Awards on a Saturday night! We hope that this means even more of our lovely guests can let their hair down and fewer will have to work the morning after! The date for 2023 is Saturday 25th November at the new venue:

The Crown Hotel
Crown Place Harrogate
North Yorkshire
HG1 2RZ

Q What time does it start?

6.00pm – Drinks reception

7.00pm – Dinner

Q What is the dress code?

The Harrogate Mumbler Awards is a black tie event.

Q How many guests to a table?

Tables are for 8-12 guests. If you book for fewer than 8 guests you will be placed on a mixed table. 12 is the maximum number of guests on a single table.  If you have more than 12 guests in your party please let us know and we’ll seat you together!

Q Can I bring under 18’s to the Mumbler Awards?

I’m afraid not. The Harrogate Mumbler Awards are a strictly over 18’s event.

Q What are the menu choices at the Mumbler Awards?

Unfortunately to keep costs as low as possible for attendees, we do not offer menu choices for the Mumbler Awards HOWEVER we can provide food suitable for all dietary requirements & allergies as long as we have plenty of prior notification.

ALL special dietary requirements must be made at the point of booking.

Q Are the tickets refundable under any circumstances (including illness/ Covid-19)

Unfortunately no. As a small business we are completely unable to offer refunds for any reason. This is because the budgets for this event are extremely tight, most of our production casts (sound, lighting, filming etc) are fixed and cannot be refunded if some guests do not make it on the night. Furthermore we are unable to request a refund from the hotel for the meal costs. We are very sorry about this, however there will be no deviation from this policy whatsoever.
