Santa at Abbey House Museum

We are delighted to welcome families back to the Museum to celebrate Christmas with us once more at Abbey House Museum.
Santa will be meeting families in the snowy square, next to his grotto stuffed full of presents! There is plenty of room for the whole family to join in safely. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
As well as your chance to tell Santa if you have been good you can write him a list and pop it in our post box! The Victorian streets will be seasonally decorated. There will be trails to try, sprouts to spot, silly hats to selfie and cosy corners to curl up for a story all included with your entry. There is also a craft bag for each child to take home.
We are taking bookings again this year to prevent long queues and keep everyone safe. Please arrive at the Museum in plenty of time for your booked slot. There may be more than one family booked in this time slot but you will go into to see Santa as a family and will not be asked to share. To keep everyone safe we respectfully request adults wear masks unless exempt and allow personal space.
Each ticket is for one child to see Santa and receive a present. Admission to the Museum is not included and must be paid on arrival.

Festive Afternoon Tea with Elsa this Christmas season, as our garden TiPi at Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate, turns into a magical Frozen kingdom for 3 days only, which will run from 20th-22nd of December 2021 at 12.30pm-4.00pm each day.
Tuck into a delicious afternoon tea while Elsa will grace us with her visit and present children with a goody bag and gifts. Below is our magical menu you will find available on the days.

Christmas Festival at the Web Adventure Park
Make lasting memories with your family at our magical and unique Christmas Experience.
A wondrous event including an audience with Father Christmas himself, meeting his Elves and his reindeers Donner and Blitzen as you wander round the animal park and enter the Winter Wonderland. There you will find Father Christmas planning his Christmas Eve adventure, maybe check if you are on his “Nice List!” If you are very lucky the Elves may have a gift for you too.
Dazzling Darren and Michael Jordan will showcase his Christmas Magic performances, six in total including our Elf on the Shelf show. A jam-packed day with lots of laughs and wows guaranteed.

As twilight falls see the abbey aglow with all the colours of the rainbow. Walk beneath the cellarium’s vaulted ceilings, under the grand columns of the nave and stop to watch the live choirs and bands fill the ruins with festive music. Join in if you know the tune!
Choirs and bands will be performing in the cellarium 2-3pm each Saturday and Sunday from 20 November until 2 January. From Monday 20 December to Tuesday 4 January (closed on 24/25 December) the abbey will be lit each day and playing recorded carols on afternoons when there’s no live music.
Drop into Swanley Grange on your way down to the abbey and get stuck into some family Christmas crafts. Perfect for little ones to get messy with natural materials to create festive decorations.
Have you got any puff left? Join in with a festive trail with Percy the Park Keeper daily (from Saturday 4 December until 3 January)
Come along and be Percy’s helper for the day! Step into his ‘wellies’ while he’s busy as there’s a lot to get done in winter. Working with Percy’s animal friends follow clues to find lost items and help get the tasks done with lots of fun along the way. Complete the trail for a fun prize at the end. Trails cost £2 and can be collected from our admissions teams.
Taking place at The Crown Hotel, families will enjoy a sing-along, elf-tastic performance full of festive fun and North Pole magic. After the Elf Training Show, everyone will have the chance to meet Father Christmas himself, and all the newly-trained elves will receive a 2021 Elf Graduation Certificate, and an early Christmas Present from Father Christmas. But remember, don’t open it until the ‘Big Day’ itself!

At Knaresborough Castle and Museum take in the beautiful views and discover the dungeon, ancient graffiti and special secret underground tunnel. The Christmas Experience at Lotherton returns this year, with Santa and his elves ready to welcome visitors from across Leeds and beyond.
BRAND NEW for 2021 is our Festive Woodland Walk, Elf Crafts, Mrs Claus Gingerbead decorating and Yuletide Yurts with extra special magic show!
The Festive Woodland Walk will include larger than life Christmas traditions including interactive elements for all of the family to enjoy. Take a walk through the sparking and twinkling lights whilst exploring the amazing interactive traditions. As well as visiting Santa this year you can join the elves and Mrs Claus for Elf crafts in the courtyard and gingerbread decorating in the house!
Come on in to our Yuletide Yurts and have a festive drink whilst enjoying the beautiful setting. Snacks will also be on sale alongside your favourite Christmas tipple! You can even come to one of our amazing magic shows which promise to fill you with mystery, wonder and festive fun!
The Hall will be dressed up in all of its Edwardian festive finery, the Fairy Dell will be twinkling and Wildlife World will be open during the day for a full day out experience.

‘Tis the season to be jolly and the frivolities kick off with the Harrogate Christmas Fayre (Friday 3rd – Sunday 12th December daily).
Experience the joy of Christmas in the heart of Harrogate this December when the town centre will host a delightful festive market featuring an eclectic mix of favourite local traders and traditional European Christmas stalls.
Among the charming stalls and entertainment will be arts and crafts from artisan creators, mouth-watering treats, festive decorations and unique gift ideas, for friends, for family, or maybe just for you, as a little treat amid the busy Christmas preparations.
There’ll be plenty to see and do to entertain the little ones too, with fair rides, sweet-treat stalls, entertainment and Christmas music to set the Yuletide mood. Climb aboard the Candy Cane Express, supported by Harrogate BID, a free-to-ride road train to travel around the town centre and take in all of the seasonal sights and sounds. Shuttling between the three main areas of the Christmas Fayre, traditional fairground rides and stalls, via Cambridge Street, Market Place, Station Square and Cambridge Crescent, making sure you don’t miss a thing during your visit.
Parking in the Victoria Centre multi-storey car park in Harrogate is free after 3pm Mondays to Thursdays from 15th November to 24th December.
For the safety and enjoyment of traders, townspeople and visitors alike, the Christmas Fayre has a wider, covid-safe footprint, with over fifty stalls spaced apart and running for over two weeks to reduce over-crowding.

Another favourite Yorkshire spot of Santa’s is Mother Shipton’s Cave. A personal friend of Mother Shipton, Father Christmas is a long-standing guest of Knaresborough’s famous prophetess, so he will be working in his grotto, making sure he has plenty of presents ready to load onto his sleigh, ready for the big Christmas Eve delivery.
There’s something for the whole family at Mother Shipton’s this Christmas. Take a photo inside Santa’s beautiful sleigh and sit upon the magical Christmas throne, then visit the Elf Mail Post Office to stamp and post your letters to Santa.
Seeing Santa and sharing their Christmas wishes with him, is a truly magical experience for your little ones. That’s why we are thrilled to announce that Father Christmas will be visiting our restaurants again this year!
Each 30-minute visit with a small group of children will include storytime with Father Christmas, a photo opportunity, and a gift for your little ones. Adults can sit back and relax with a hot drink whilst their little ones enjoy their visit.

Our assignment from the North Pole this year is to spread Festive joy to everyone. This December, get ready for a Christmas covered in Chocolate! From our expert chocolatiers showing off their skills and teaching you some tricks of the trade, to Santa himself making an appearance. There is a chocolate filled Christmas event to suit everyone.

The Ice Factor – the North of England’s largest outdoor ice rink at 975 sq. m – will once again have a 30ft high sparkling Christmas tree as its centrepiece. Surrounded by illuminated trees, log cabins, the rink side cafe and a viewing platform, this magical setting makes for the perfect festive experience for all ages.
Overlooking the ice rink is The Chalet, a cosy alpine-themed, après-skate café and an ideal spot to warm up after a session on the ice or to watch the skaters glide past. Mulled wine, the best hot chocolate in town, hot dogs, toasties and sweet treats will be available to purchase, and private parties can also be arranged.
The vintage funfair features rides from the golden era of fairgrounds. Speed and thrills await on the 1936 Speedway, the 1937 Brooklands Dodgems or the stunning 1930s Chair-o-Plane. Muffin the Mule and Hush Hush the train will delight children, as will the games stalls offering prizes galore.
Christmas would not be the same without a visit to Santa and his elves. Visitors can follow the path through the snowy enchanted woodland to find his cosy log cabin and collect a special gift.
Visits to Santa’s Grotto are priced at £5 per child with a £1 family booking fee. A reservation is required to visit Santa but can be made on the day, subject to availability.

Børn of the Forest is a classroom without walls where children learn from nature, within nature. Join us for natural, open ended play opportunities in our vast private woodland setting, led by Vikki, a qualified forest school practitioner and Early Years specialist teacher.
