The Christmas Trail will go live on Monday 7th December 2020 and will run throughout the school Christmas holidays until Sunday 3rd January 2021.
The Harrogate Christmas trail has 3 different challenges for families to enjoy. For younger children, there are 2 Christmas trail routes – the Red Trail and the Green Trail. Each route consists of 10 images, which are displayed in 20 participating shop windows in the town centre.
Once you have found 10 images, you can exchange your answer sheet for a small prize at all participating retailers. Families have the option to do either the Green or the Red Christmas trail, or both (if little legs can manage it!)
For older Children there is a “Festive Phrase Unscramble” with a chance to win our amazing prize hamper. There is 1 letter to be found on each of the 20 image posters. Collect all 20 letters and unscramble them to work out our Festive Phrase. Submit your answer to Harrogate Mumbler online here to be included in our prize draw to win a bumper Christmas Hamper worth over £400.
Hamper prizes include £50 worth of clothing from Milk & Honey and a beautiful jewellery set worth £177 from Infinity & Co. Entries must be received by midnight on Tuesday 22nd December 2020. Full T & C’s are on the Harrogate Mumbler website.

You may not be able to get to a Christmas Grotto this year, or to a Christmas Panto Show, but don’t worry, Enchantica’s are bringing Father Christmas and his Grotto sing along show to you instead!
The show starts with a personalised greeting from Tinsel for your child or up to 4 children. The adventure takes you to visit Father Christmas at the North Pole and you will all enjoy helping him get ready for Christmas… especially as there’s a very important job to do this year to make sure all presents can be delivered safely under the new “restrictions” of 2020!. The 20 minute sing along adventure show also allows your child(ren) to tell Father Christmas what they would like for Christmas and includes a magical photo opportunity too! Father Christmas speaks to every child using their name and with the DELUXE option he also reads out their letters!
When you book the DELUXE LETTER READING personalised video you will be sent a letter template and instructions of how to get your letters to the Elves at Enchantica’s and they will magic up the rest.
Its just £14.99 for the PERSONALISED VIDEO allowing up to 4 children per video and £39.99 for the DELUXE PERSONALISED VIDEO for up to 4 children per video.
And as an extra treat, and a big thank you from Enchantica’s for all the families who book this year … for every video purchased will receive a FREE Christmas Day sing along adventure show in your inbox on Christmas Day itself so you can sit down and enjoy it with your family. Of course, you won’t be sitting down for long – you’ll be jumping up to dance and sing along to their fantastic original action songs!
With the countdown to Christmas now upon us there will be a cut off for orders so we advise you book your personalised video adventures early to avoid disappointment.
Each weekend in December and every day from Boxing Day to 1 Jan*. Come together this Christmas for a full festive day out each weekend in December and every day in Christmas week. As the afternoon light starts to fade, make your way to the abbey and wander through the ruins aglow with bright and colourful lights.
* Please note that we’re closed on Fridays throughout November, December and January with the exception of Friday 1 January. We are also closed on 24 and 25 December but open on Boxing Day.
Follow the fairy lights down to the abbey, aglow with light, then sing-a-long to your favourite Christmas carols in the cellarium and enjoy a mulled wine as you stroll through the grounds this Christmas.
Listen out and you might catch a carol or two in the cellarium where traditional music will fill the air. Sadly we won’t have our usual live choirs and bands this year. Music will still be played while you explore the glowing lights in the abbey. Feel free to still have a sing-a-long!
You can experience Christmas here all day but the lights will start to show as it gets darker in the afternoon. Last entry to the estate is at 4pm.
Normal admission charges apply. You will have to pre-book a ticket to visit.
Make sure you bring lots of warm clothing and your torch (it’s dark by 4pm).
The event is within normal admission times so you’re able to park at any of the carparks: the visitor centre or Studley Royal. West Gate car park is reserved for those who need flat access to the grounds.
And whilst Covid forced the cancellation of an official switching on-ceremony, this year’s display – which includes streets which have not been featured before – will the give the town centre a much-needed end of year boost.
Over the last few weeks, the BID’s partners in this project, Gala Lights, have been busy adorning buildings, lampposts and trees with an array of illuminations, including a host of animated effects.
In addition to a giant illuminated Christmas present near Betty’s, and a programmable and multi-coloured tunnel on the piazza in front of Victoria Shopping Centre, the tower of St Peter’s Church will also be lit.
Further information about Harrogate BID is available from its website
