Dozens of children from primary schools across the Harrogate area joined together for a day of musical high notes at Harrogate Ladies’ College Junior Choir Day.
The Year 4 and 5 youngsters from local schools took part in the Jubilee-themed musical extravaganza.
The children learned a new repertoire of songs marking the Platinum Jubilee next month culminating in a rousing encore of ‘Hey Mr Millar’.
The groups were joined by choral and music scholars from Harrogate Ladies’ College.
Principal Mrs Sylvia Brett said the day had been an amazing experience for everyone after the Covid restrictions.
“The idea was to simply bring children together to sing a new repertoire, meet new friends and a enjoy a day singing in a big group – something we have not been able to do for a long time.
“We have a wonderful tradition of choral singing and it was lovely see so many happy faces joining in.”
The school’s Chapel Choir has been invited to sing all over the world, including at cathedrals in Venice, Prague and Barcelona. They were former runners up in a Songs of Praise school choir competition.
