Pick up a map from the team at the Welcome Hut and head on your adventure. How many of the rock formations will you find? Most of the formations have been named relating to what they look like… do you think you’ll be able to find the Dancing Bear? Or the Eagle? If you wander across the moorland you may come across Mushroom Rock.
It’s always a little fun to have a go at making up names for some of the rocks too!
Dogs welcome…
With acres of rock formations and moorland to explore, hidden places to discover and new sniffs to sniff, Brimham Rocks is a great place to bring your four legged friends. There are water bowls and dog waste bins available throughout the site and please remember to keep your dogs on a short lead.
Finished exploring?
After you’ve scrambled across the rocks and explored deep into the heather moorland, pop by the refreshment kiosk to refuel with a light bite, sweet treat and hot drink! If you bring your own reusable cup you’ll get 25p off your drink too!
Why not head up to the visitor centre to see photos of Brimham’s history, read quotes from past visitors and take a look inside the second-hand bookshop – filled with classic volumes, colourful children’s tales, modern fiction and vintage treasures, it’s the perfect place to discover something new to keep or share.
A quieter visit…
There’re lots of special places to explore away from the main rocks – with circular walking routes around the north and south heather moorland, paths leading through the nature filled woodland and a quiet sheltered route heading down to the pond (yes, Brimham Rocks has a pond)! Ask the welcome team for the best routes if you’re looking for a quieter visit.
Brimham Rocks tends to be quietest mid-week or from 3pm onwards at weekends and during school holidays.
