So I was invited along to Feel Electric EMS Fitness in Harrogate to try out their 20 minute work out sessions & I wasn’t quite sure what to expect……EMS means Electro Muscle Stimulation…….I was a little nervous! However on arriving my mind was put at rest – the staff were brill & Sam took me though everything & explained how it all worked.
I thought I would be hooked up to some machines & just kind of wait, but it was a little different than expected. I was handed a top & shorts to wear so went to get changed. The changing rooms are really light & airy & clean. I donned my suit (think wetsuit) and vest (where they hook the wires up to) along with my socks and we started the workout.
Sam explained how the machine worked – the electrical impulses reach deep layers of your muscles & this leaves you toned, stronger & energised. To begin the impulses are low & they find the right setting for you. I can only describe it as tickly……not unpleasant at all, just a strange sensation. The sessions are all 1-2-1 & last around 20 minutes. We worked our way through a range of different movements for the whole body & I definitely felt it, and I felt like I had completed a work out. The time passed by really quickly & I really enjoyed it – it was a fun way to workout & only 20 minutes to achieve a full body work out – win win!!!!
Afterwards I got changed – everyone receives a brand new suit so it’s really safe – if you sign up for a course you keep the suit so have your own.
I think it’s a really great workout – I wasn’t sure I would ‘feel’ like I’d worked out, but I really did. The optimum time to do this is once a week, so can be the only thing you do, or in conjunction with other activities. If you are time poor then check it out, as you can achieve so much in a short space of time! it’s suitable for all ages & abilities as the exercises are tailored to you. The fact that it’s 1-2-1 make it really safe and focused on your goals as well.
I am looking forward to my next session!
