The event showcasing the learning experience for pupils aged 2 to 18 is the first of its kind since we were listed at number 10 in The Sunday Times’ Parent Power league table of top 10 secondary independent schools in the north for the very first time.
Parents are invited to explore our School via activities specially tailored to the next step in your child’s learning journey, whether it’s Ashville Acorns Pre-Prep for children aged 2 to 5, Prep School for those aged 5 to 11, Senior School for 11 to 16-year-olds, or Sixth Form (16 to 18).
The event will include information about the curriculum, sports, performing and creative arts, and academic and pastoral support.
Here are five features of the day not to be missed, particularly if this is your first open event!
Often mentioned as a highlight by previous visitors, our pupil tour guides are our best ambassadors. Other than explaining the stops along the tour route, they are unscripted, and will tell you their honest views and experiences of Ashville. Feel free to ask them questions, such as about our Competitive House system, which sees pupils taking part in a diverse range of activities, learning life skills such as teamwork and creating lifelong memories.
A key event during the morning will be a speech from College Head, Mrs Rhiannon Wilkinson, in the Soothill Hall. She will be joined by our Heads of School, Fleur and Toby, who will give their unique insights into Ashville and what it can offer your child.
If you are a parent of a child in Reception to Year 6, you will hear about the Prep School’s pioneering Outdoor Learning programme. Further up the School, you’ll hear about how we get pupils ‘Future Ready’, which refers to our tailored programme that started in the Sixth Form and is now being rolled out to other Senior School year groups. This programme helps to prepare pupils for life beyond school, whether that’s university or the world of work.
Our partner Sporting Influence, which has just moved its base to Ashville, will share details of its holiday camps for children in Year 1 to Year 9, which start this February half-term. The New Friends of Ashville, our thriving parents’ association, will also be on hand to offer support, refreshments and a unique insight into being an Ashville parent.
Should you choose to stay after you’ve completed your tour, you can enjoy a complimentary lunch in our recently refurbished Dining Hall, where our skilled Catering team will serve up a delicious range of savoury and sweet dishes, and you can soak up the atmosphere of the busy dining room where our pupils eat during their school days. Bon Appetit!
