The Gatehouse Nursery – for children aged 2-3 years
No two days are ever the same in the Gatehouse Nursery but we can guarantee that every day is filled with fun! Open from 7.30am until 6pm, the Gatehouse is a separate building specifically designed for our younger children with an indoor and outdoor area. We offer a carefully planned range of activities and experiences to encourage development and learning in a nurturing environment. Stories, singing, dancing, painting, riding, scooting and a toddle waddle around the school field keep our little ones very busy!
Pre-Reception – for children aged 3 – 4
In Pre-Reception, children experience a programme of activities to promote independence, daily phonic and mathematics sessions, creative opportunities and a space in which friendships are developed and fostered. We prepare our Pre-Reception children for full time school by following a structured day interspersed with playful learning opportunities to develop confidence and enthusiasm for learning. Alongside this our children make full use of the wider school facilities such as the sports hall, performing arts centre and our extensive grounds.
Reception – for children aged 4 – 5
Confidence and enthusiasm for learning continues in our Reception class suite. The move to full-time school is seamless and is a natural progression for our children. Small classes ensure each individual receives the attention and support they require.
‘Forest Friday’ is a firm favourite, along with PE and music, both of which are taught by our specialist teachers.
Rugbytots, dance classes and Spanish lessons are available to Pre-Reception and Reception children as part of our extra-curricular clubs (additional cost applies).
Transition (Year 1) – for children aged 5 – 6
It is a very exciting time moving from Reception into KS1 but it can also feel like a big step. We ensure that learning continues to be fun and although lessons are much more structured and the children spend more time ‘formally working’ they will still learn in a variety of ways – exploring outside, working in groups, with partners and completing hands on activities.
Topics and stories make the lessons exciting and this ensures a cross-curricular link between the subjects. Special event days are planned throughout the year and extra-curricular opportunities available to Year 1 pupils include tennis, karate, dance and sport as well as other lunchtime and after school clubs on a rotation basis throughout the year (costs may apply).
If you need before and after school care, our Earlybirds club runs from 7.30am – 8.30am and Sundowners runs from 3.00pm – 6pm (additional fees apply).
