This means that up to five people (maximum of two adults) can travel all day, on any operator, within the City of York boundary. This means you can go as far afield as the Yorkshire Air Museum and the Maze at Elvington; or why not come in to town from one of the neighbouring villages?
If you’re coming from Harrogate, why not travel into York by train or Park & Ride, then buy an All York ticket and explore from there? Don’t forget to send us your photos from the top deck!
York Minster
There’s so much to do in the Minster, and every child goes free. York residents also go free when you show proof of address with a postcode on.
Over summer the Minster are putting on special nature sessions for children, so if you’d like an environmentally themed day, why not get the bus, and explore the amazing wildlife that surrounds the Minster? Sessions are every Wednesday at 10am and 2pm.
Here are just some of the bus routes that will bring you into town, then it’s just a short walk to the Minster:
York Maze, Elvington
The a-maze-ing York Maze is a brilliant day out for all ages. Make sure to book your tickets ahead and plan a whole day’s adventure in maize – which also has a café and 20 different rides and things to do.
Journey wise why not catch the same 36 bus for the Air Museum from York Train station – see below.
Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington
Just a few minutes on from the Maze, the Yorkshire Air Museum has just opened their brand new playground, so combined with a café and exhibits to keep the whole family entertained, you can spend an entire day out there. The 36 bus from the railway station (picking up in Fulford and Wheldrake along the way) – makes it easy to reach from the centre of York, or pick up the route as it goes through town.
On a weekday, you could catch the 11.15am from the train station, arrive at the museum by 11.55am. If you’ve only got time for a quick visit, catch the 2.48pm home but if you’ve got all day to spend, take the 5.08pm home.
The Web Adventure Park
Just ten minutes’ bus ride from the centre of York, the Web Adventure Park is a feast of activity for under fives and over fives, whether they’re into climbing, go karts, craft, football, giant bouncy pillow (or everything in between!).
The 40 bus route runs every hour from Station Avenue to just outside the Adventure Park. On a Monday to Friday why not catch the 9.59am from town and arrive at 10.16am; enjoy a full day and once you’re all worn out, catch the 4.35pm home? Services also run at the weekends, and don’t forget you can use your All York Family ticket to connect to other services at Station Avenue and Exhibition Square, all for one price.
These are just some of the brilliant days out you can go on by bus, and now it’s even more affordable. By joining us on the top deck you’ll be contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable York too, so why not explore more this summer?
