I love this time of year at work. Yes, it’s been rather busy with a bit of cycling (!), the end of exhibitions of beautiful wedding dresses in the Pump Room, Victorian art at the Mercer and Henshaws papier mache animals at Knaresborough Castle and the logistical machine that is the Harrogate Open, but I am knee deep in ordering props, craft materials and writing stories, trails and generally enjoying myself getting ready for Halloween, and specifically the return of ‘Creepy Castle’.
Knaresborough Castle is a beautiful location all year, and ideal for some Halloween action! It’s also a great way to enjoy the outdoors before the dark nights and freezing days hit. And we have a fab evening event on Halloween itself designed not only to be great fun but also a great excuse not to go trick or treating, and only go home with one bag of sweets!
So, my next day at work involves decorating the Castle workshop room ready for the holidays, testing out the Potions we’ll be making, making examples of the masks, badges and printed bags that are in the Taunting Textiles workshops, putting out our Ghoulish Guests.
The day after I’ll be putting out the Fiendish Friends (no need to book just drop in) visiting the Pump Room Museum for Halloween, and getting the trail and backpacks ready for there and the Mercer.
Sometimes work feels like all admin and processes, and it’s always busy, but when it’s making example Halloween crafts and choosing my scary costume, I do love it! Hope to see you for some Creepy Castle or Halloween Harrogate action!
