The race does pass through Harrogate this time (we missed out in 2018) Not only that, the race will be taking advantage of the Harrogate Circuit, which will give us a taste of things to come during the UCI World Championships later on in the year (September 2019)
The Tour de Yorkshire began in 2015 as a legacy race from the Tour de France but has quickly become one of the most celebrated sporting events in the country.
Here you’ll find everything you need to know about watching and supporting the race, as it passes through Yorkshire. If you didn’t take part in the 2015 Tour de France celebrations in Harrogate, I’d really recommend that you get involved in the event this time. There is so much for families the publicity caravan which goes along the route before the race was such a massive hit with the Mumbler family!
You can see the race maps and timing for each stage in more detail on the Tour de Yorkshire website here.
Routes that come to (or come very close to) Harrogate
Mens Race Stage 2: Friday 3rd May 2019 (Barnsley to Bedale) Full timings here
Womens Race Stage 1: Friday 3rd May 2019 (Barnsley to Bedale) Full timings here
Both races enter the Harrogate circuit from Beckwithshaw, they will continue along Pennypot lane, right at the roundabout down to to Birk Crag on Cornwall Road. Next they’ll go through the Pinewoods on Harlow Moor Road and then down Harlow Moor Drive. At the bottom of the Valley Gardens they’ll climb up Cornwall Road then right onto Hereford Road. From there they’ll cross Duchy Road onto Kent road towards Ripon Road. It’ll be a right onto Ripon Road with a detour down Swan Road & Crescent road before climbing up Parliament Street. They’ll go all along West Park, turning right at the Prince of Wales Roundabout then back up Otley Road, right again at Beckwithshaw but this time carrying straight on at Pennypot Roundabout and on to Killinghall & then Ripley then on to Ripon.
On Sunday 5th May 2019 there will also be the Tour De Yorkshire Ride Stages. There are 3 routes (Long, Medium & Short) and whilst they don’t come into Harrogate, both the long & Medium route pass pretty close. They come from Beckwithshaw, along Pennypot lane towards Menwith hill. Timings TBC
