The Harrogate BID have several events happening this Easter which look like awesome fun for all the family!
This Easter Harrogate BID have partnered with the Jorvik Museum Group to bring ‘Windows On The Past’ to Harrogate.
Windows On The Past is a pop-up medieval-themed window display which will run from Friday 1st April – Monday 2nd May, covering the Easter holidays, in a vacant unit in the Victoria Shopping Centre (next to Café M/the old Grape Tree unit).
The medieval-themed window display will have scenic elements and artefacts from the Jorvik Groups portfolio, including content written by Horrible Histories author, Terry Deary.
We want to invite people into the town centre to discover and learn about the medical methods of the past and encourage them to compare and contrast those health practices and living conditions with today’s society, linking with the history of the Harrogate District, through physical and digital elements.
The physical display will bring the medieval medicine theme to life through a range of items such as replica objects, scenic elements and archaeological finds. It will be based around five medieval medical practitioners; a physician, apothecary, barber surgeon, nun & cunning women, viewed through a window display.
The digital elements, accessed via QR codes at the display, will allow the themes to be explored in more interactive, detail. You will be able to find out more about health and wellbeing in the medieval period through reconstructions and videos.
As well as ‘Windows On The Past’, make sure to look out for our Street Entertainers who will be making an appearance over the Easter holidays. You may have seen our Street Entertainers over October half term last year; Trick and Treat who had a great response in the town centre. This easter, Harrogate BID are bringing back more superb Street Entertainers to the town centre over the Easter holidays.
