Local radio station Your Harrogate has teamed up with broadband provider
TalkTalk to grant the Christmas wish of one deserving family by sending them to Disneyland Paris.
4-year-old Harrogate girl Rosie Rant was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumour at just 15 months, and has since endured more than a year and a health of chemotherapy.
Earlier this month, Your Harrogate and TalkTalk asked for nominations of worthy local people that deserve to have their one wish granted this Christmas.
And following a nomination from their mum Helen, Rosie and her brother Toby, 5, are set to jet off on the family holiday of a lifetime.
Presenter Nick Hancock revealed the news to Helen on the Your Harrogate breakfast show.
She said:
“Oh my goodness, thank you so much. I don’t know what to say. That’s truly magical.
“We kind of live six monthly between Rosie’s scans and certainly it’s been difficult to think about holidays. We want to prioritise them of course and give the kids holidays and some experiences but it is hard.
“I’m just absolutely gobsmacked.”
Rosie received her final scan results last month, with doctors aiming to discover how her tumour had reacted to the chemotherapy.
Thankfully she was given the all-clear.
Helen added:
“She’s doing really really well. At the minute everything is stable and the oncologist have been really optimistic with us, so we’re full of hope.”
The prize will see the family jetting off to Disneyland Paris for five days.
Ben Cooper, Head of Marketing at TalkTalk, said:
“When we were asked to grant the Your Harrogate Christmas wish, we didn’t even have to think about it. Whilst it’s important for us to spread better connectivity through full fibre in Harrogate, spreading Christmas joy is just as high on our agenda.”
The Rant family were one of four Christmas wishes that were granted this year.
An iPad, a luxury 50” television and a family meal out were also gifted to deserving Harrogate families.
Ben added:
“It’s been a challenging year, and if at the end of it we can connect those to their loved ones in some way then it’s a very merry Christmas for us.
“In the end we couldn’t pick just one winner to gift, as so many stories touched us – a huge congratulations to our winners!”
