Treat the kids to a live musical this Easter at Harrogate Theatre. The award winning musical Oliver!, will be coming to Harrogate Theatre this Easter from 20th – 23rd April including a Thursday and Saturday matinee performance.
The cast of 40 include 25 local children from the age of just 6 years old, and promises to excite and delight the whole family with the tale of the boy who escapes the bleak workhouse to make a new life in London.
To celebrate their first show in nearly three years, Ripon Operatic Society has teamed up with Starling Independent Bar Café Kitchen on Oxford Street Harrogate to offer children the chance to design a pizza. The winning entry will be made into the weekly special, the week of the show, and £2 from every pizza will be donated to Harrogate and District Food Bank. They will also win 4 free tickets to the show (or a refund of 4 tickets if already purchased).
Simply download this link and design a pizza. You’ll need to decide what ingredients it’ll be made from, draw a picture of what it would look like and give it an inventive name.
Two runners up will get two free tickets to a performance of their choice and a £25 voucher for Starling.
Please email your entry to riponoperatics@yahoo.co.uk by 7pm on Friday April 5th.
Due to the show already selling well you are advised to book in advance regardless of the competition outcome. Winners will be refunded.
Oliver! is a family favourite based on the Victorian novel “Oliver Twist” by Charles Dickens. Well known numbers include “Food Glorious Food”, “I’d Do Anything”, Oom-PahPah” and “You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket”. With arrangement by Lionel Bart and some very energetic dance numbers, the story follows Oliver! as he travels from bleak workhouse to the mean streets of Victorian London where he’s taken in by a mischievous gang of pick pockets.
Ripon Operatic Society actually started rehearsing for this show in 2019! However, following a pandemic, a theatre closure (whilst the rood was repaired), and a further lockdown, they are finally able to bring the show to life in front of an audience. The youngest members of the show were not even members of the original cast being just 4 years old when the show should have originally gone on.
This is a really great opportunity for families to enjoy some really great live theatre and music at their local Theatre. Booking in advance is strongly advised.
Tickets from just £14 can be purchased from Harrogate Theatre Box Office
