This Christmas is going to be incredibly difficult for lots of local families. We’ve been in touch with local and national charities and organisations, and listed below are those that are looking for your help in the run-up to the festive period.
Please note we will update this blog regularly and add new charities and organisations as they announce their plans. If you would like to be added to the blog please email us at email@example.com
Harrogate Clothes Bank
Winter coats needed, can you help Harrogate Clothes Bank?
Due to Lockdown measures, we aren’t able to sort large amounts of clothing so we are not taking general donations at the moment. However, what we do need urgently is a supply of warm winter coats for all ages but particularly for children, and winter shoes for younger men in smaller sizes (sizes 7 to 9).
If you can help us with these specific donations please get in touch by phoning 01423 589148 to arrange collection/drop off.
This Christmas hundreds of families will be living in emergency accommodation having fled violence and abuse. You can help to make this place of safety more comfortable and give families the opportunity to celebrate a Christmas free from domestic abuse by making a cash donation of giving vouchers or gift cards to be passed onto the families supported by IDAS.
You can also donate new items from the list below:
New bedding sets for children and adults, standard double & singles
Please try and get your donations to IDAS by 13 December 2020 to allow time to distribute them. For more information contact IDAS by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Resurrected Bites are delivering food parcels to vulnerable people across our district, people who are struggling to access food for various reasons.
We want to help people to have as normal a Christmas as possible and so we would like to deliver presents to our customers too, focusing especially on making sure customers have something to give their children.
Do you have unused, unwanted gifts you would like to donate which are still in their packaging or have tags on? We are looking for toys, gifts, toiletries sets for teens and adults, unused gift cards. If you would like to buy a gift for someone please email email@example.com or call 07434 639911 (3-5pm) and she will let you know what gifts we are still looking for as we are asking customers what their children would like. Please donate the gifts unwrapped. We are also looking for donations of wrapping paper and Sellotape too.
✨ Can you help make a family’s Christmas ✨
Christmas is upon us and with the strangeness of 2020 I know some are getting out the decorations already to add a bit of cheer during Lockdown 2 🎄🔔✨ and why not?!
Some families however do not have the ability to do this and I am hoping our fabulous community can change this 🙏🏻☺️
New Beginnings are looking for donations of Christmas decorations and in particularly are looking for 3 artificial Christmas trees to help 3 of our families that have left refuge this year 🎄🎄🎄
Being able to achieve this for our clients has a massive positive implication for their mental health.
SASH is a local, registered charity, preventing youth homelessness across York and North and East Yorkshire.
Young people aged 16-25 who are facing a homelessness crisis are placed in the homes of one of our amazing volunteer hosts on both short term (Nightstop) and longer term (Supported Lodgings) accommodation services. We then work with and support each young person to ensure they can move on to live independently and never have to face homelessness again.
As a prevention-based service SASH has a minimum need for physical items, although there are other ways you can get involved and support their work this festive season:
This year has been really tough on everybody and a lot have found themselves in strange circumstances. Christmas is the time for caring and sharing with our family, friends and community and this year we need to do this more than ever.
Danni Parker of Premier Support Services, Emma Bjelan from Veritas Education and Wesley Gill from CNG switch have teamed up to ‘Gift back this Christmas’. Their Christmas Wish is for us as a community to help support local families & businesses who are in need of additional financial support this year. So, the idea of ‘Gift back this Christmas’ was born; raising money for families and giving back to the local independents.
They wish to raise a minimum of £1000.00 through a crowdfunding campaign to help those in need this Christmas time. They’re already in talks with some local schools to try to reach as many families as possible! If you can help support in anyway, please follow this link; https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/giftbackforchristmas
🎄🎄🎄Whatever you choose to do or donate, we hope you and your family enjoy the gift of giving back this Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
