Advertising Feature for Banyan Harrogate
Banyan in Harrogate are taking part in the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out Scheme and they kindly invited us to come and review their Harrogate Branch. So off me and my little 3 year old side kick went! It was a gloriously hot day and Banyan’s location benefits from plenty of outdoor tables. We had a table right next to glass doors – which were all fully open. We loved it – the coolness of not being in the sun but plenty of fresh air. Tables of course are all socially distanced. There are plenty of signs around the restaurant, explaining how things work as well as hand sanitiser stations.
We were shown to our table and advised to order all food and drinks at the bar. The children’s menus are all disposable, with colouring sheets. Since restaurants have re-opened we’ve been taking our own crayons with us as many restaurants aren’t suppling them. But Banyan are and encourage them to take them home with you too! The bar has perspex screens where there staff are serving you.
I’m not sure if they’ve had to reduce the menu, but to be honest I couldn’t tell, there was still plenty of choice! The kids menu is excellent, plenty of choice of mains – all for £5.50 which include a drink (only £2.75 with the EOTHO discount Mon-Weds.) , you can add a desert for £1.95 too (so less than £1 Mon- Wed)! My daughter went for the Popcorn chicken and chips with an apple juice and I went for the Bang Bang Chicken Salad.
Food took about 20 minutes if that to arrive – I though that was pretty impressive given the restaurant was fully booked! Great portion sizes and really delicious. Plus added bonus that the kids meal came with peas too! I was also impressed they had smaller cutlery for kids – I always find it quite amusing watching my little one try to eat with a huge knife and fork! I’m an annoying customer and always ask for things taken out, or on the side, in an attempt to be good usually. They did everything I asked for, the dressing on the side was soooo good, i finished it all!
There was obviously room for ice cream – there always is when little ones are involved isn’t there? My daughter went for Punky the vanilla Penguin. I wasn’t quite sure what we’d be getting, but my daughter’s face lit up when the waiter arrived with a plastic penguin filled with ice cream! He even washed it for us afterwards so we could take it home. A brilliant touch for the little ones.
The toilets were spotless with hand sanitiser and plenty of hand wash available. You’re limited to 4 people in the toilets at once, but that wasn’t a problem when we were there. With the huge ceilings of the restaurant, along with fewer tables the restaurant is really spacious and its so easy to keep a safe distance from other people. Staff were constantly cleaning down tables. It certainly felt like a safe environment.
So if you’re looking for somewhere for all the family I couldn’t recommend Banyan Harrogate enough. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious, they are taking all the necessary precautions and its super child friendly. With 50% off an already reasonably priced menu it would be rude not to give it a go!
