The Sporting Influence Foundation works within the Harrogate community supporting children who have faced challenging circumstances. Awareness and funds raised from the cycling challenge allow for many young people and families to be supported through Sport.
At the SI Foundation we believe that sport can develop a young person’s social skills, including, Teamwork, Respect and Determination. The team needed to use all of our social skills to successfully complete our challenge. With the support of YourHarrogate and Ashville College, we cycled to 15 schools that the Foundation supports, this was done in the 6 hours during the school day.
We started at Bramhope Primary School at 9am, where we were set off by our Foundation member Mr Street. Our finish line was at 3pm at Ashville College in Harrogate. In total the team covered 88km showing great determination to continue when legs were aching! Before lunch we managed to visit 5 schools, this was our longest leg, approx. 50km. After lunch we headed into Harrogate and visited the remaining 10 schools. Please follow the link to see our C2S video .
An additional thank you must go out to the Living Room Community Café in Starbeck and Prologue Cycling Café in Harrogate, for providing us with refreshments and cake to ensure we have enough energy to complete this amazing challenge.
If you or anyone you know would like to get involved in working/volunteering with the charity, we would love to speak to you. We are passionate about supporting children in the community and have a range of opportunities to volunteer or fund events.
