The camp orientated around being physically active, providing nutritional guidance and discussing food and diets in a positive way. The children were amazing at creating positive dialogue around food, discussing what makes up a healthy diet and why a diet may change based on different days and activity level. Sessions were a mixture of practical learning, for example wearing pedometers in sports activities, to nutritional inspired art competitions.
The Sporting Influence Foundation Team managed to provide 135 free places for children this summer at camp. Additionally, we provided each child a packed lunch meal and snacks. We also need to say an additional thank you to Christine, the Community Champion at Starbeck Morrisons, who provided extra fruit for snack times.
Sporting Influence Camps offer FUN, SAFE & ACTIVE childcare throughout school holidays. The Activity Camps are made up of a variety of games, sports and activities that allow the children to switch off from day-to-day school life. As the majority of the staff are qualified teachers, parents are assured that children using the FEAST places are under the safe supervision of professionals who understand children and their needs.
The Sporting Influence Foundation CIC’s fundamental vision is to improve sports participation rates of children and young people in and around the Harrogate area; Aimed specifically at those who have experienced challenging circumstances. Our mission is to ensure that children and young people have the best opportunity to access all the peripheral benefits that physical education and sport have to offer, whether that be physical, social, emotional our environmental.
The FEAST funding is made available by the DfE and covers the Christmas, Easter, and Summer Holidays. As a Foundation we aim to provide free places at each of the school holidays, and we are proud to say that The Harrogate Round Table and The Inn Collection Group have kindly donated funds to support October and February Half term.
We are still looking for a sponsor for may half term, if you are interested or you just want to see all the good work we are doing to support the community please visit our socials and website at:
