I can’t believe it’s come around so quickly but its nearly the end of August!? How did that happen?Here’s a quick round up of what family friendly events are going on in the area! At time of writing, the weather is looking OK for this weekend (not quite the heatwave we had last year), but just incase we’ve added a few indoor activities too!
Skylit Drive-In Cinema is a family friendly event happening at the Rugby Club in Harrogate, Yorkshire on the August Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August 2020. For more information and how to book tickets see our latest blog.
Mrs Smith Summer Spotting Trails
These have been available all summer and are a fab way to spend a couple of hours! There are two trails, one starting and finishing at Mrs Smith’s Cafe and the other around Harrogate Town Centre. You can pick up the trails from Mrs Smith’s Cafe or Sophie Likes. Suggested donation of £2 per family, with all procededs going to local charities! We love Painting Pots and judging by all the lovely nominations they received in our recent Love Local Awards so do you! The studio is open on the Saturday 10am -5pm for painting, foam clay and teddy mountain bear making?
The Great Knaresborough Summer Bunny Hunt
The Bunny Hunt is taking place in Knaresborough until 31st August. 19 ceramic Bunnies have been dotted around Knaresborough this summer. You can buy your map for just £2 (proceeds going to local charities) from Painting Pots, The Black Mulberry Cafe or The Olde Chemist Shoppe. Maps will be sold in a safe, sealed envelope and will include a pen, sticker, sweet treat and details on how to enter to win donated prizes!
Open all Bank Holiday Weekend this is a lovely day out for all the family. You will need to book your tickets in advance though.
Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden
Open all weekend another lovely day out – especially given the weather is looking good! Again you need to book your tickets in advance online.
Open all weekend! All visitors must book online and arrive by car. The adventure play ground is now open too! The Pixie Village is open all summer. The Pixie Village event will not include any confined spaces and actors will not be interacting for this event which will reduce large gatherings of crowds and physical contact. Visitors will be provided with a trail sheet to explore the natural woodland and Pixie Village.
The caves and cafe are open all weekend, but pre-booking is advised! A great day out whatever the weather! If it’s sunny then you need to visit the Stumpy Van for some fabulous ice cream creations! They also have their Mad Science Monday Event on bank holiday Monday. Join their science teacher Maddie this August for some hads-on madcap exciting cavern based experiments! All workshops are 30-40 minutes, for 7 – 12 year olds. £12 per child includes cave entry and goodies to take home! To book call them on 01756 752780. They are also taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme which will be running on Monday 31st August.
A brilliant day out – and its open all Bank Holiday Weekend (unless the weather is truly awful, then they might close so its best to check on Facebook on the day). There is so much to do here – seeing the animals, the maize maze, sandpit and go carts to name a few. The cafe is closed to sit in but its open for take away, or you can bring a picnic. Their ice cream is on sale too! There is no need to book either!
We are so excited to see this place swing open its saloon doors again! It’s suitable from children of crawling age to 8 years old. Their play experience is open on the Saturday 29th from 1pm-3pm, you’ll need to pre-book online. Rumour has it there’s a brand new Fair Tale Ice Cream Parlour open too! We can’t wait to check it out!
Swimming – Harrogate Borough Council
All local pools are now open – some now offering fun sessions! You will need to pre-book online!
We love a trip to the cinema on a Bank Holiday and we’re so happy to see Everyman back open! They’ve got some great family favourite films showing over the weekend including; Peter Rabbit, Trolls Tour and Harry Potter!
We’ve listed all local establishments that are taking part in the scheme! It will be valid on Monday 31st August. The perfect way to finish off the Bank Holiday Weekend! We would recommend booking a table at your favourite participating restaurant if possible – this scheme has proved really popular!
