At first when I heard it was World Book Day BEFORE normal services resumed for Schools I was beside myself! No trying to put a fancy dress outfit together at the last minute, or having to shape a potato into Mog the Cat! But then I get an email from school and got told we could still participate at home! And then it dawned on me that actually this will be a really fun thing to do this year – something different from the normal day of home learning! So we are pleased to say, we are going ALL IN!
Apart from stressing over the fancy dress for weeks, the main purpose of World Book Day is to provide every child and young person in the country with a book of their own.
Over 15 million £1 World Book Day book tokens will be given to children and young people across the UK and Ireland on World Book Day! All you have to do is take your voucher to your local bookshop and swap it for one of the TWELVE exclusive, new and completely free World Book Day books. If you have another favourite in mind, you can use your token to get £1 off any full price book instead.
As a lot of children aren’t at school due to lockdown, we have the download option of the token available here:
